Job Description
The Business Development manager will join a growing team launching industry-leading aerospace electrification product across aviation segments. The candidate is responsible for engaging with emerging stakeholders to position BAE Systems products in adjacent markets including aviation infrastructure (vertiports and airports facilities), as well as with government agencies including the DOE, DoD, and FAA. They should have a demonstrated track record of developing relationship at the senior customer levels down to the working level. He/she will work with BAE Systems team members to understand customer needs, BAE Systems technical solutions and articulate key benefits and differentiators. The right candidate should also be able to build trust and confidence that enables BAE Systems to be viewed as a preferred partner than just a good supplier.
The ideal candidate will have responsibility to move quality high Pwin opportunities through the pipeline to enable our Electrification business segment to pursue the ones that best align with our segment strategy and growth aspirations.
Target opportunities may include a combination infrastructure/airport operators, government entities, as well as partnerships with suppliers and infrastructure developments/management firms. Specific responsibilities within the team will depend on the candidate’s interests and experience.
A technical background is preferred. The right candidate will be able to understand the unique challenges associated with the transition to hybrid and electric fleets including battery technology, chargers, power-grid, micro-grids and islanding, construction, and aviation operations. They will interact with internal technical teams to influence product strategy and technology roadmaps. They will maintain a high-state of awareness of the competitive landscape and influence pricing decisions. Additionally a business acumen with an interest in exploring business models, product economics, and market dynamics is also preferred.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Identify and qualify focused opportunities that align with both Business Segment and Business Area objectives.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to identify customer objectives, priorities, and requirements and to position BAE Systems as an innovative industry leader.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with businesses with significant presence in the assigned markets including airlines/operators, airport/vertiport operators, utilities, government entities, and aerospace OEMs
Lead and deliver all early lifecycle reviews as mandated by BAE Systems business development best practices.
Support bid strategy development, competitive intelligence, and pricing development.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to prioritize multiple pursuits.
Bachelor degree or equivalent technical experience in aerospace/aviation, electrical engineering, construction management, or similar technical discipline.
Strong relationship development and management skills; strong business acumen.
Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams in a remote or telework environment.
Ability to quickly absorb, understand and influence fleet, power system, or infrastructure requirements in an emerging market environment.
Good understanding of emerging technology in power & energy management, micro-grids and grid storage, and fleet electrification.
Pursuant to a specific U.S. Government contract, selected individual must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Advanced degree in a business or technical field.
Capture experience.
Understanding of aviation operations and emerging fleet electrification in aviation including airport and vertiport operations, charging, micro-grids/islanding.
Knowledge and experience with government grant funding including DoD, DOE, DOT agencies.
Existing relationships with government agencies, airport and infrastructure providers, municipalities, or utilities.
