Overview
BerryDunn is seeking a Senior Accountant with knowledge of corporate accounting principles, practices and procedures, GAAP, general ledger, A/P, A/R, and financial systems to join our internal Finance and Accounting Department. You will join a core team tasked with providing financial leadership and thoughtful stewardship of BerryDunn’s resources. This position is planned to support the Firm from our corporate headquarters office in Portland, Maine. You will report to the Accounting Manager, with regular interaction with the Director of Finance & Accounting and other senior leaders of the Firm.

Responsibilities
You Will:
- Assist with accounting activities for the accurate and timely distribution of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits and annual budgets.
- Work to ensure that the company’s financial records are maintained in accordance with company accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist with the activities of disbursement, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing and payroll tax compliance.
- Assist with activities of accounts receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc.
- Maintain the general ledger and sub-ledger detail for assigned accounts, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Prepare periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process.
- Assist in the management of business insurance policies, renewals and required tax filings.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the firm’s accounting policies and procedures manual.
- Complete ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required.
- Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, management, clients, vendors and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
You Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting position
- Strong technical accounting experience including U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting principles, practices and procedures
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or NetSuite a strong plus
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Intellectual curiosity about the business and the information and work processes to best support it
