FULL_TIME

IBACOS is a small business with a big impact. In the pursuit of the better home, we create new products and technologies for the homes of today and tomorrow. We dream big and come up with ideas through our Innovation Pathway to solve the homebuilding industry’s greatest challenges. To make the biggest impact, we join forces with large production homebuilders and work in partnership with influential government agencies and other industry experts. The ideas we dream up have improved hundreds of thousands of homes, and the lives of people who live in them.

We’re growing and searching for an ‘out of the box’ creative thinker to solve complex and sometimes obscure challenges. Someone with a passion for improving the built environment and making homes more responsible and sustainable for society.

This is a full-time position at our headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA. We believe that innovation happens when people come together so, you’ll be in the office most of the time with our core team. However, we are results driven and support a flexible work schedule.

Your Role & Responsibilities

Drive innovation in residential new construction and retrofit, including the following activities:

  • Test and evaluate new building enclosure and HVAC technologies.
  • Prototype new product technologies, including 2D and 3D CAD, 3D printing, assembly and fabrication with hand and power tools.
  • Develop engineering calculators and software mockups.
  • Conduct data analysis on experimental test data using automated workflows.
  • Conduct building energy modeling and analysis.
  • Author technical proposals and research reports.

  • Mission driven. You are here for a purpose and not just a paycheck. You think differently, are flexible and challenge the status quo. You believe everyone deserves better homes and are committed to solving today’s big problems.
  • Technically capable. The work we do requires the highest quality technical analysis. This position will challenge you to embrace flexibility, grow and learn a variety of technology related skills. You should have a working understanding of thermal and fluid dynamics, and structural analysis.
  • Homes are physical structures, you are happy rolling up your sleeves and building prototypes. You have demonstrated experience with product development, including CAD, 3D printing and prototype assembly.
  • Digitally proficient. Buildings are increasingly controlled by software, and you should not be afraid to work with code, whether creating an analysis script, mocking up a new control application, or programming a data logger. You should also be comfortable working the Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
  • Details matter. You believe that the little things matter most. Often times the small things may be over looked but not by you, you notice everything.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills. We collaborate internally and externally across multiple platforms and among multiple types of people so you must be comfortable being in the presence of a CEO one minute and framer the next. Great fluid communication is key to our success.
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently in a non-scripted environment. We do not micromanage; we expect you to be accountable to yourself and your team members. Manage your Mindspace and tasks wisely - don’t let yourself or others down.
