The position is in Data Science and Advanced Analytics Division in Optum Insight, Risk and Quality Division and will be responsible to drive modernization and transformation initiatives to further improve the Risk Adjustment program offerings by applying data science/analytics-based solutions. These projects largely drive cost savings, improve customer experience, and help in quality improvements for Risk & Quality Solutions business. This position requires excellent Business & Data science background with ability to execute projects independently with stringent timelines, applying latest and greatest analytical techniques to provide a solution which can have significant business impact.

Positions in this function produce innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from unstructured, diverse datasets typically measured in gigabytes or larger. Applies knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement. Uses a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive and prescriptive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data. Works with analytics and statistical software such as SQL, R, Python, Hadoop and others to perform analysis and interpret data. This function is not intended for employees performing the following work: less complex analysis on small data sets; rules-based algorithmic or descriptive analytics; development of big data infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead and drive modernization & transformation initiatives across Medicare Advantage, ACA & Medicaid programs in Risk & Quality Solutions
• Work closely with Risk Adjustment Operations and other stakeholders to define and build or support solutions
• Work closely with other Data Scientists to roll out new models and provide feedback on the performance of models
• Define and design KPIs of Risk and Quality Solutions, work with the team to develop and report the performance of the programs
• Guide a team of data scientist, and subject matter experts to deliver on key analytics initiatives
• Responsible for conceptualizing, design, develop and implement the RQS based solutions for modernization & transformation initiatives
• Responsible for operational improvements to existing analytic processes across multiple teams in Risk & Quality Solutions
• Lead research & analysis initiatives for Prospective & Retrospective analytics in Risk & Quality Solutions
• Recommend value-based refinements to prospective and retrospective programs
• Complete ownership of quality and timeliness of work products

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• 2+ years of experience in US Healthcare
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in building AI/ML based model
• Experience using SQL, Python, Spark, Pyspark, and/or Hive
• Solid understanding of Advanced Analytical techniques (Latest and greatest NLP based model)
• Ability to communicate complex concepts verbally and in writing
