What You Will Do :
Under general supervision, the Pro Fee - ED/Trauma Coder (Remote) codes medical documents and/or charge tickets as assigned. If requested by supervisor, provides technical guidance and training on medical coding to physicians and/or other department staff. Maintains knowledge of AMA guidelines and billing compliance and performs all other duties as required.
Assigns required CPT/ICD/ASA/ HCPCS codes and/or modifiers as needed per documentation.
Determines if accident date/type is applicable.
Inspects each case for missing information and gives to appropriate party for follow up.
Identifies canceled cases and follows departmental guidelines.
Checks AIS record for cosmetic documentation; adds additional AS400 screen and appropriately splits the time on all cosmetic cases.
Investigates why cosmetic case was not set up initially.
Provides notation on the AS400 screen that this is a cosmetic case .
Researches all cases that could be study related .
Resolves TES Work files.
Reviews encounter to determine the appropriate action required.
Examines documents in various programs (HealthQuest/IPV, etc.,) for missing information.
Furnishes liaisons with facts to help clear edits.
Edits the dollar amount on cosmetic cases based on department s instructions.
What You Will Need :
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or a comparable coding certification (e.g. AHIMA CCS-P)
1-2 years coding experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Basic computer skills.

- Experience with AS400, Cerner, IDX or Powerchart

The annual salary range for this position is $43,200.00-$64,900.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
