Job Description

The Director of Institutional Planning in
Institutional Research & Planning works closely with and supports the VP,
IR&P on University-wide planning initiatives and on the implementation of
cross-functional projects by leveraging the multiple areas of expertise and
domains of thinking represented under IR&P: Institutional Research, Space
Planning, Information Systems & Design, and Institutional Planning. The
incumbent provides alignment and coordination to ensure that planning and
organizational efforts are integrated, coordinated for maximum efficiency and
synergy, and culminate in capacity building, strategic use of resources, and
the timely achievement of project goals and targets. The role directly oversees
the Associate Director of Strategic Services and the Associate Director of
Information Systems and Design, and provides an integrating perspective and
consultative support to IR, Space Planning, and Information Systems &
Design units. This role works closely with the VP, is responsible for departmental
operations in IR&P and provides direction to the division in the VP’s
absence. 

Essential Functions

●Align a range of institutional planning activities to advance and execute University priorities in support of senior leadership.
●Guide and assist departments, divisions, schools and cross-functional teams to help them design, deploy, and implement a broad range of strategic, business, and operational plans, projects and solutions.
●Provide project management capacity for EVP-directed initiatives by developing project plans, organizational/governance structures, and timelines for cross-institutional projects.
●Ensure that project deliverables are completed on time and within budget and establish a regular reporting mechanism to update the VP and EVP on status, issues and critical path to the achievement of projects.
●Serve as the deputy for IR&P operations, including:coordination of IR&P-wide planning; effective resource allocation; management of the IR&P operating budget and P1-related duties; professional development of IR&P staff.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $137,800 to $172,250; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

●Relevant BA/BS degree required; MBA or other advanced degree in management, higher education or a related field preferred.
●Minimum of 10-15 years of increasing responsibility in administration or relevant experience is required. Demonstrated success in a comparable role required.
●Excellent project and process management skills and ability to manage/balance multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
●Comfort and ability to interact and deal effectively with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization, and to inspire trust and comfort in others.
●Previous management and supervision of administrative staff as well as experience working with senior executives is essential.
●Ability to think outside the box, iterate, test and apply creative or innovative approaches to projects and challenges.
●Deep respect for individuals of diverse backgrounds and orientations, and interest in using IR&P data and projects to support diversity and inclusion goals.
●Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based, deadline-oriented environment; the ability to effectively manage complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects and competing priorities.
●Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and demonstrated ability to produce significant and compelling reports/documents and presentations.
●Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, high quality standards.
●Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, PPT. Comfort with testing new technologies and tools.
