Senior Electrical Engineer

The Senior Electrical Engineer will design and test all aspects of electrical design and components for the Skai air vehicle. The environment will be highly collaborative with team members. It is a hands-on engineering role involving technical guidance and problem-solving skills.
Duties/Responsibilities:
HV (VDC) and LV (5-28VDC) power systems and electrical design capability and interfacing with electro-mechanical systems.
Analyze power circuits and able to design and troubleshoot / work with components such as power cables, contactors, diodes, electrical protection, distribution boards...
Understand, plan, and execute technical activities in accordance with Alaka'i policies, procedures, and specific requirements in heavy team collaborative environment.
Able to gather and interpret data and telemetry from various devices.
Electrical Network and component modelling and simulation.
Develop and execute test plans to validate designs compliant with product specifications.
Conducts validation, verification, and qualification testing. Implement with accurate consideration for power quality and performance, systems interfaces, physical environment, etc.
Assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronics and electrical power engineering.
Provides support as appropriate by isolating faults and resolving design and implementation issues.
Understands and becomes familiar on how the eVTOL subsystems interconnect.
Monitors the activities of subcontracted technical services.
Document designs, specifications, engineering changes and test reports.
Perform other duties and cross training as assigned.
Experience with control systems and grounding/earthing
Cognizant and supporter of electrical safety practices. Helps to promote and carry out rules and procedures throughout any tasks.
Provide feedback and guidance to junior members of the team.
Requirements
Required Skills:
FAA electrical design standards experience.
Design for manufacturing.
Provide cohesiveness and technical guidance to the team. Ability to call design shots.
Likes and wants to help others grow.
Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software
Critical thinking and problem-solving, planning & organizing, decision making and time management skills.
Hands on and Strong bias for action, comfortable taking initiative to quickly make changes and/or try new ideas
Ability to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
Optional: Analog circuit design, digital circuit design, and software design and troubleshooting. PCB design, schematic and routing.
Electric propulsion background, desirable.
Fuel cell and high discharge battery experience, desirable.
Self-starter and work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required, Master's degree a plus.
7-10 years of direct electrical engineering design experience on power systems. Circuit design, schematic capture, circuit simulation tools and electrical troubleshooting)
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery.
