ABOUT THE TEAM



onX s Business and Corporate Development team takes a long-term view of onX s opportunities, working with our Hunt, Offroad, and Backcountry teams to create step-change increases in onX corporate value. Central to onX s success is a thoughtful build, partner, buy approach to aggressively pursuing strategic opportunities, and much of this work is led by the Business and Corporate Development team. In the last few years, we have completed major strategic acquisitions, launched game-changing product features through integrations with leading hardware and software companies, and delivered major partnerships with some of the most important brands in our market.



WE ARE LOOKING FOR



onX is looking for an Analyst to support the Business and Corporate Development team s pursuit of onX s major strategic opportunities across the build/partner/buy continuum. For this role, the most important candidate attributes are raw intelligence, curiosity, ambition, and a passion for onX s mission to awaken the adventurer in everyone. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting research and making business recommendations in an environment of imperfect data. We're looking for someone with previous experience in business or corporate development with a growth-stage tech company, venture capital, consulting, or similar. The position will report directly to the Lead Senior Strategic Business Developer and will work closely with onX Product, Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams.



LOCATION



Hybrid from Montana or fully remote from select locations. onX s corporate offices are located in Missoula and Bozeman, Montana. This position can be performed near a corporate office or remotely from one of onX s Basecamps, which are emerging locations where our remote onXers cluster for work and adventure. onX s current Basecamps are located within a 120-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.



Additionally, being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment. We do not sponsor work visas (of any kind ) for this position at this time.



RESPONSIBILITIES



(Essential Job Duties)





  • Draft financial models, investment theses, and other documents to guide vertical and company decision-making across the build/partner/buy continuum under the direction of senior Business Development team members.




  • Develop ROI lookbacks and financial and KPI reporting to help Business




  • Development, other teams, and the company better understand the success of past partnerships or acquisitions, informing future strategy and execution.




  • Develop and maintain a set of market and competitive analyses related to current and future onX products, user groups, and priority initiatives to be used as primary input for vertical and corporate strategic planning.




  • Conduct research to provide critical inputs to models and documents related to highly time-sensitive strategic investment decisions.




  • Contribute insights from partnerships and research to inform onX's corporate strategy development.




  • Assist with the intake and management of projects, including maintaining project management tools and dashboards.





REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS




  • Three (3) years of business development, corporate development, venture capital, or strategy or management consulting experience.

  • Bachelor s degree in business, accounting, finance, computer science, or related field; or equivalent experience.

  • Experience analyzing and developing pro forma financial models, including a robust understanding of finance and accounting concepts.

  • Experience conducting and synthesizing market research to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

  • Comfort manipulating, interpreting, and making recommendations based on incomplete or imperfect data.

  • Strong business writing skills, especially the ability to concisely communicate findings and recommendations to senior decision-makers.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS




  • Five (5) or more years of business development, corporate development, venture capital, banking, or strategy or management consulting experience.

  • Expertise in consumer technology and subscription-based business models.

  • A deep personal passion for outdoor adventure.

  • Proficiency with Python and/or SQL.

  • Familiarity with Agile or similar project management philosophies.

COMPENSATION



onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, we are open to considering candidates ranging in two levels (level II and level III). Spanning these levels, applicants can expect to make between $80,000 to $125,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
