JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Business Department

REPORTS TO: Department Manager

STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

Performs secretarial duties according to established practice policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred Education: High School diploma or GED. Prefer one-year experience, preferably in a medical office
  • Preferred Experience: none, will train
  • Special Skills: Preferred experience as per practice specialty basic keyboarding and computer skills, ability to multi-tasking, Good communications skills a must.
  • Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting, some standing, walking and some lifting; extensive keyboarding; heavy phone use

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Provides secretarial support such as answering telephones, making follow-up appointments, assisting patients with check in and check out
  • Monitors reception area and patient flow, main communication between provider and patient regarding delays
  • Works directly with a provider team to provide secretarial support such as tracking patients, sending letters, tracking patient information requests
  • Maintains a working knowledge of our patient portal to assists patient with questions
  • Reviews each appointment for accurate information needed for appointment
  • Reviews provider team schedules for accurate appointments and flow of day.
  • Answers telephone calls and directs call to appropriate person; takes messages as needed.
  • Schedules specialist appointments and procedures including laboratory and radiology appointments as appropriate
  • Schedule procedures, to include patient instruction for preparation, if necessary
  • Schedules specialist appointments and procedures including laboratory and radiology appointments as appropriate
  • Prepares patients electronic medical records; utilizes all aspects of electronic medical records.
  • Processes referrals daily and prior authorizations, including documentation
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Possible travel.

WORKING ENVIORONMENT:

Work is normally performed in a typical interior office setting with moderate noise level. Exposure is to the usual medical office hazards and diseases. It is a group practice of physicians.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
