News West Publishing, is seeking a News Editor for the Mohave Valley Daily News, at its Bullhead City, AZ location.

Pay: $36k - $43k DOE

The position, which reports directly to the editor-in-chief, is the lead page designer for the company and requires a variety of skills, including pagination, editing and writing. Photography, multi-media and social media experience is a plus.

The candidate must be an experienced paginator and have strong grammar skills — and a desire to learn the business and develop.

This position should appeal to seasoned copy editors or page designers who are ready to assume a larger role in the newsroom or weekly editors who would like to continue building their skills in a larger organization with growth opportunities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 
  Oversees design and layout for one daily and two weekly newspapers.
• 
  Edits articles, proofreads and designs pages.
• 
  Takes photos, shoots video and writes stories as needed.
• 
  Participates in print, online and social media products maintained by the company.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• 
  Must have prior experience using InDesign, and examples of prior work.
• 
  Administrative capabilities: time management, prioritization, organization, troubleshooting.
• 
  Must have basic office knowledge of computers, copy machines, cameras.
• 
  Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, Slack, Dropbox, Facebook.
• 
  Must have strong interpersonal, writing, editing and page design skills.
• 
  Must have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a deadline environment.
• 
  Must be able to communicate with both newsroom staff and staff members of other departments.
• 
  Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
