Job Type: We are seeking Independent Contractors, working remote, 20-40+ hours/week for a short-term project from January through March 2023.



To support our client’s requirements for the CMS Web Interface (CWI) abstraction and submission of clinical quality data between January 2, 2023, and March 31, 2023, we are seeking abstractors with:



  • CMS Web Interface (formerly known as GPRO, Group Practice Reporting Option) experience, or;

  • Experience abstracting clinical data from multifaceted electronic medical records




Essential Skills and Experience
:



  • Performs abstraction of selected electronic medical records within specified time frames for commercial clients.

  • Apply data element definitions and abstraction instructions found in applicable manuals to accomplish timely and accurate review of selected medical records.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the applicable Specifications Manuals. Abstractor candidates must pass a series of tests after receiving specific training to assess measure specification knowledge prior to starting actual project.

  • Identify incomplete medical records and submit requests for missing sections of the medical records to supervisor; complete abstractions when missing sections are made available.

  • Accurately enter abstraction results into designated data entry tools within assigned timelines.

  • Modify assigned abstractions based on feedback provided by inter-rater reliability review or other reviews by supervisor. Independently review criteria for areas where a pattern or trend in data mismatch has occurred. Request additional education/training as needed.

  • Abide by the established security and confidentiality policies and procedures.

  • Report routinely to designated supervisor and notify supervisor if unable to perform normal abstraction duties and/or assignment in a timely manner.

  • Computer knowledge and skills requisite for review of online and scanned medical records and data entry into online abstraction tools.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively via e-mail, conference calls, or other virtual technology.

  • Home based remote position. Must provide own high speed internet services.

  • Secured computers will be provided for the length of the project.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.




Required License/Education:
Not required; however, any license held in a healthcare field license must be unencumbered.



  • Minimum of twelve months of Quality Measure or other medical record abstraction experience required. Experience working on CWI/Group Practice Reporting Option (formerly GPRO) and/or HEDIS strongly preferred, with knowledge of the CMS measure specifications.

  • A background in nursing, medicine, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, claims/billing, coding and/or medical records is required.

  • A substitution of 2 years CWI/ GPRO abstraction may be accepted in-lieu.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in healthcare field.

  • Candidates should expect a background check and W9 processing.

  • Company may add duties as needed during the project which may not be listed in this posting or the job description.
