The YMCA of the Ozarks is seeking a motivated individual for their Senior Director of Operations.

Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The incumbent oversees the areas of Food Service, Facilities & Grounds, and Housekeeping at YMCA of the Ozarks. Participates in volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies. The Properties Director is a dynamic and multi-faceted role responsible for the enthusiastic and professional leadership over the collective culture and dynamics at YMCA of the Ozarks. This is a high level leadership position that requires an adaptable experienced individual with a strong ability to effectively prioritize, thrive in a fast paced work environment, provide positive supervision for a large team and maintain consistent professional communication with the YMCA of the Ozarks community as a whole.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in, recreation, business or a related field, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Previous experience with facilities, construction, hospitality, food service or business management preferred.
  • Current Missouri DNR water and wastewater operator certifications, or ability to acquire in the first year of employment.
  • Minimum 5 years facilities, grounds and/or housekeeping experience or equivalent
  • Certified, or able to obtain and maintain, American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED administrator.
  • Five or more years of management experience preferred.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Possess working knowledge in areas of HVAC, construction, painting, carpentry, electrical wiring and controls, plumbing, water and sewage treatment, vehicle and machinery operation and maintenance, and grounds keeping
  • Proficiency in the safe and proper use of power equipment and tools, heavy and light machinery, and building materials
  • Proficient in use of technology
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities, work on multiple projects concurrently, prioritize own workload and consistently meet deadlines

Essential Functions

  • Develop and Implement Operations Management Systems for quality food production and presentation while ensuring facilities and grounds are in perpetual state of guest reediness to include but not limited to construction, care, prevention and correction.
  • Meet regularly with the Executive Team on short and long-term planning and goal setting
  • Implementation of systems for food ordering & preparation, facilities construction, preventative/regular maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment including routine duties such as cleaning, mowing, painting, vehicle maintenance etc.
  • Reviews, prioritizes, and assigns work requests using software
  • Coordinates the use of contractors when departmental personnel are unable to perform certain duties including cost estimating, data gathering, purchasing services, and providing site supervision.
  • Possess the knowledge and be physically able to assist staff with all duties
  • Builds systems for tracking and prioritizing staffing in the areas Food Service, Facilities & Grounds and Housekeeping.
  • Set, and maintain, quality standards of service in the areas of Food Service, Facilities & Grounds and Housekeeping.
  • Hire, train, coordinate and supervise department staff
  • Hire and train all key leadership staff in the areas of Food Service, Facilities & Grounds and Housekeeping.
  • Supports Food Service, Facilities & Grounds and Housekeeping with maintaining efficient staff scheduling
  • Approves time sheets, overtime and vacation requests
  • Formally evaluates the work performance of department staff and recommends salary adjustments to the Executive Team
  • Allocate and control resources including presenting and approving annual budgets for each department
  • Assists in planning, and makes recommendations, for annual budgets based on department needs
  • Oversee the purchase, use, and care of all equipment and supplies
  • Monitors expenditures to ensure budgetary compliance
  • Processes payables efficiently according to policies and procedures
  • Maintains equipment and supply inventories
  • Perform all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines, including local, state, and federal guidelines as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards
  • Ensures compliance of all staff with rules, regulations, and procedures of regulatory agencies
  • Utilizes proper safety equipment and training as required for the job at hand
  • Ensures that sound risk management policies and procedures are in place and followed by all personnel
  • Routinely inspects facility for potential safety issues, maintenance needs and general cleanliness
  • Exhibit good customer service by interacting effectively with all levels of management, guests, associates, vendors and clientele both inside and outside of the organization
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Team
  • Updates facility plans periodically
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
