DataBank is seeking a highly skilled Building Systems Engineer to implement and manage our global building controls systems across our portfolio. This person will be the subject matter expert for all Building Management Systems (BMS). The Building Systems Engineer will report to the Director of Building Systems Engineering and will interface with contractors, customers, and DataBank team members to ensure company standards and industry best practices are adhered to. This role will support all aspects of the BMS to include; the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and database management. The ideal candidate will have a high-level of experience with logical programming and SQL scripting and a strong understanding of Windows Server OS, Tridium, and Automated Logic Control BMS platforms.
Responsibilities
Create and provide the leadership team project status timelines, milestones, and updates pertaining to the BMS system implementation.
Responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of new and existing building management systems, controllers, and associated equipment.
Develop and provide training for Building Systems Engineering staff members, Data Center Operations personnel and other users of the systems.
Support the user base in the operation and maintenance of the systems including emergency on-call support and 24x7 remote access to all systems.
Assist with budget management and tracking with a constant emphasis on efficiencies and cost savings
Develop and implement company wide standards for the systems.
Develop Method Of Procedures (MOP) for system software/hardware installation/integration and maintenance.
Perform software/hardware calibration and firmware updates as required and ensure systems are adhering to network security best practices.
Perform troubleshooting diagnostics at the component level on analog and digital circuitry, automated systems, control systems, environmental systems, HVAC systems, UPS systems, electrical distribution systems and fiber optic systems.
Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical control system problems and determine appropriate corrective actions including issuing work orders, dispatching, and communicating with field personnel; read and interpret ladder logic, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, graphics and sequence of operations and make adjustments via the Building Management Systems.
Periodic travel (~25%) to the data centers will be required.
Qualifications
15 years of experience in administration, design, and diagnostics of BMS systems.
10 years of industry related technical field experience with power and HVAC systems, BMS controls, BMS software and device installation and integration.
Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center application.
Extensive knowledge of Tridium and Automated Logic Controls building management software, hardware, peripherals, add-ons, and services.
Strong working knowledge of third-party control communication protocols used in building automation (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LON, SNMP, etc.). Able to design and troubleshoot integrations with the same.
Strong working knowledge of wired communication protcols (Ethernet, RS-232, RS485).
Strong understanding of enterprise IP networks, including layout and troubleshooting.
Demonstrated experience handling multiple priorities, organizing work to meet changing priorities, and working efficiently and effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.
Proven customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; sense of urgency; attention to detail; ability to handle situations diplomatically and across various levels of the organization.
Strong interactive communication and negotiation skills and an aptitude for problem-solving.
Proficient with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
