Director, College Engagement



 



The Director of College Engagement will be responsible for delivering a suite of programming and services to Michigan’s community colleges, cultivating relationships with member colleges, and managing convenings of Presidents, Trustees, and other community college stakeholders.



 



Reports to:                          President



 



Employment Type:           Full-Time, work performed primarily in-person in downtown Lansing, with some travel and opportunities to work remotely; hybrid schedule available



 



Compensation:                 Salaried, $ 70,000+, Commensurate with experience

Duties and Responsibilities



Member Services and program coordination




  • Plan and execute MCCA events, including its annual Summer Conference, in collaboration with Vice President and Operations team Develop and execute a suite of professional development and peer networking experiences for Trustees, including an orientation for new trustees, an annual institute for all trustees, and ongoing trainings on special topics Establish and strengthen relationships between MCCA and Michigan community college affinity groups/professional organizations.  Support community college professionals establish new affinity groups as needed.  Represent the Association by attending events and meetings on member campuses Identify and recruit appropriate college personnel to serve on statewide committees, boards, and commissions Maintain and/or generate consortium agreements between vendors and members Generate and distribute member surveys; summarize and distribute results to members




  • Work with staff to plan and execute the annual Phi Theta Kappa Awards Luncheon Support the appropriate MCCA staff/consultants in administering, improving, and scaling the Michigan New Jobs Training Program and Leadership Academy

  • Foster opportunities for collaboration among member colleges to strengthen the community college sector and build capacity for member colleges Investigate and execute opportunities for cost-saving programs that could benefit members Coordinate the Association’s CRM and accurately maintain contact lists and rosters for various community college constituencies Partner with MCCA’s PR/Communication professionals to amplify the work of community colleges to raise awareness of their impact in Michigan and nationally Publish MCCA’s Weekly Board Update, in partnership with Director of Government and External Affairs and other staff




  • Provide staffing support for the Board of Directors, including developing agendas, assisting with logistics, and preparing meeting materials Provide staffing support for the Executive Committee, including developing agendas and preparing meeting materials Represent the Association at various meetings Manage the content of various sections of MCCA’s website Special projects and other duties as assigned



Requirements and Skills:




  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in political science, public policy, education, management/administration, business, communication or a related field; Advanced/Professional degree preferred At least three years of experience working in organizational management within the context of a nonprofit or member association setting; experience working at a community college preferred Demonstrated success in the program delivery, including executing successful projects Knowledgeable on diversity, equity, and inclusion principles Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with fidelity of execution and meet deadlines Excellent engagement and communication skills Critical and strategic thinker with an ability to engage diverse stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft office products, social media, and marketing software Enthusiastically committed to working as a team Exceptional professionalism and customer service skills when engaging community college presidents, trustees, and college personnel
