Are you an accounting professional eager to use your skills to make a difference in the community? Opportunity Council is in search of a talented Program Accountant to join our Fiscal team!

JOB SUMMARY

The Opportunity Council is a private, non-profit, Community Action Agency serving homeless and low-income families and individuals. Our organization's success hinges on our Fiscal department who provide a high level of accounting support to the agency at large. The Program Accountant works with the agency's fiscal and program directors and fellow fiscal staff to develop and maintain reporting systems for planning purposes and for monitoring of spending progress. Program Accountants maintain and input program budgets in MIP to facilitate programmatic and agency wide reporting. Additionally, Program Accountants calculate and provide financial information to facilitate contract renewals and applications. The Program Accountant assists in the review of allowable charges to grants, the preparation of monthly billings and grant closeouts.
ESSENTIONAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops, maintains, and provides regularly scheduled and on demand reports in support of program managers and directors.
  • Prepares monthly billing reports for funding sources along with analyzing grant spending progress and accounts receivable.
  • Maintains and inputs program budgets in Intacct to facilitate programmatic and agency wide reporting.
  • Under the direction of program directors, develops internal systems to provide statistical information to management necessary for planning.
  • Coordinates accurate coding of contract expenses with agency fiscal and program staff.
  • Assists program directors with contract renewal and grant application budgets.
  • Provides support in preparation of and during program reviews.
  • Performs grant closeout at end of grant period, including but not limited to final billings reporting and GL adjustments.
  • Reviews labor and accounts payable distribution reports to ensure the proper coding of expenses to grants and contracts.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business or another related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience
  • Nonprofit experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is generally performed in a fast–paced office environment with frequent interruptions and occasional crisis situations. Majority of work centers on technically complex office systems and procedures, and staff management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.43 - $33.04 per hour
