    1. Build relationships with key players in IT organization and in the enterprise (finance, HR, communications).
    2. Build ongoing and ad hoc reports and presentations intended for senior leadership or C-level.

Role Business Analyst

Job Summary
Support the overall IT strategy and corporate objectives by investigating, analyzing data and reporting key information to influence decision making. The IT Business Analyst uses a range of tools and methodologies including research and maturity benchmarking, investigative interviews, and data comparison and analysis to generate reports and findings that highlight useful insights and expose areas of opportunity. The results of these findings are reported out on a monthly and quarterly basis, with ad hoc projects as needed. This role will also support various team members in the department to obtain information and findings for specific business problems and collaboratively work with team members to determine the best method of communication.
Incumbents in this level work under general supervision on projects of moderate to high scope and complexity; conduct and document most operational activities and processes within a business unit; and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This role involves collaboration with IT departments, and building solid and collaborative relationships is key.


Essential Functions/Principal Responsibilities
  • Investigate and learn across the organization: Observe and investigate a number of key delivery, project and strategic initiatives across different departments in the IT organization and the enterprise. Collect IT division operational, product and financial metrics; conducts research and performs more complex analysis. Determine possible implications, trends or patterns to provide insight to decision-makers.
  • Review and analysis: Reviews and analyzes various IT department, HR, and financial reports and data to identify root causes and implement improvements. Creates specifications to construct forecasts and models based on business data and knowledge of business processes.
  • Develop reports and presentations for leadership: Develops a variety of reporting methodologies to capture identified metrics and KPIs that consolidate data in meaningful ways, communicate to IT leadership and enterprise view. Develop ad hoc and monthly reports on financial, operational, delivery, organizational and maturity based key performance indicators with a quarterly readout to a leadership audience at a senior management and executive level.
  • Collaborate with and support team members and partners to communicate performance: Effectively summarize and simplify analysis results that are to be shared with teammates and business partners through a wide variety of mediums, and work with design and communications team members to determine improved ways to communicate division performance. Support team in obtaining key information and findings to communicate division progress to goals, areas of leadership discussion, and enable decision making for better business operations.
  • Research and benchmark for improvement opportunities: Conducts primary and secondary research to identify industry best practices. Diagrams and evaluates existing processes and develops metrics and analysis data for measurement. Analyzes, and refines high level metrics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
  • Experience investigating, gathering and summarizing key operational and business department oriented metrics for IT organizations. Understanding of relevant KPIs for an IT organization.
  • Strong analytical, research and organizational skills. Creative thinking and problem solving with an iterative mindset.
  • Ability to develop business acumen and understanding of operational/product/financial concepts and models as they apply to IT and CSAA
  • Experience in designing and authoring reports/dashboards to communicate key performance findings, with a focus on automating or streamlining to best practices
  • Strong communication (verbal, written and powerpoint) skills and ability to effectively communicate needs and core concepts with intent for understanding
  • Good interpersonal, collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Has knowledge of tools and protocols for developing effective visualizations and report building in a presentation format.
  • Ability to effectively use desktop products such as Excel, Sharepoint, MS Suite Teams, and Powerpoint for analysis, collaboration and communication.

  • Ability to learn and understand IT related operations and related performance indicators, and apply business concepts to effectively translate indicators into management related reporting
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and to take initiative on reaching out and collaborating with remote team members as needed
  • Previous experience in benchmarking IT organizational performance using methods such as balanced scorecard, maturity assessment, hypothesis based analysis
  • Experience using static or dynamic visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Access or Excel
  • Experience with MS Suite tools such as Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, PowerBI and Sharepoint file sharing and website design, as well as MS Teams and other collaboration tools


Education, Work Experience, Licenses & Certifications
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience, Masters in business management or MBA preferred
  • 3 5 years of experience in strategic or business analysis, benchmarking studies
Management or performance improvement consulting experience from a Big 4 firm preferred
