Enrolls new employees in retirement plans and answers all employee questions regarding plans. May complete tax forms, nondiscrimination tests and/or annual valuation reviews. May process financial transactions regarding retirement plans.

ATTRIBUTES


  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related experience.

  • 2-4 years HR experience with emphasis on retirement plan administration & general benefits knowledge.


RESPONSIBILITIES


ADMINISTRATION.
Administers the pension plan including eligibility determination, preparation of benefit estimates, review of calculations, maintenance of records, and verification of data given to pension actuary. As plan administrator for the Retirement Savings 403(b) and 401(k) plans, serves as primary contact for questions from prospective, current and former employees. Approves hardship and cash distributions, loans and rollovers in and out of our plans, and assists with election changes.



COORDINATION.
Coordinates the retirement process, including explanation of benefit choices, completion of appropriate paperwork, and initiation of payments. This information is reported to the Pension Committee on a regular basis. Records, processes bills, and reconciles payments for the Retirement Plan Trust and reports to the Finance Department. Coordinates quarterly retiree health insurance billings and Cobra mailings to retirees.


COMPLIANCE.
Complies with federal and statutory regulations including Summary Annual Reports, Summary Plan Descriptions and the filing of 5500 tax returns. Coordinates 401(k) regulatory testing and communicates results to affected employees. Reviews vendors calculation of the employer match, determines required deposits and ensures timely deposit of funds.

Coordinates Retiree Open Enrollment planning, communication, and execution.



CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Answers questions, interprets benefits and policies, and resolves issues for employees, managers and benefit carriers. Develops strategies to educate employees and increase Retirement Savings Plan enrollment. This includes targeted mailings, statements, on-site meetings, distribution of educational materials and retirement planning seminars.

Maintains professional growth and development by serving on committees, attending seminars and keeping abreast of legal issues and Human Resource trends. Participates in Human Resources projects as needed.
