The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus, a 378-bed hospital serves the residents of Topeka and surrounding areas. The hospital began its work of serving and healing in 1909 as a Catholic mission, and has grown its reach and scope of care by eventually joining the Ardent Health Services and the University of Kansas Health System. University of Kansas Health System, St. Francis Campus Topeka, Kansas has been recognized as the Designated Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI. This is given to hospitals with the ability to give exceptional treatment for patients with heart attack symptoms. This campus has also been recognized as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Program, as well as a Certified Primary Stroke Center.
