CAD Technician

Job Summary:

Works on routine calculations and drawings with some supervision and reviews engineering designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.

Accountability and Duties:
Ensures proposal protocol is followed
Mentors and assists with training other CAD staff
Accurately completes CAD drawings using firm standards
Cooperates with engineers, architects, planners, technicians, and draftspersons in the conduct of project activities.
Performs basic calculations at the directions of design teams
Accurately completes improvement plans: grading, utility, paving, drainage
Completes drawing preparation in allotted timeframe
Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects for self, team members, and subordinates
Prepares and monitors project budgets
Keeps supervisor informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services
Provides an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a weekly basis

Education and/or Experience:

Associate's Degree or technical experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid driver's license

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral and technical written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to design/engineer moderately difficult engineering projects
Available to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessary
Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework
Knowledge of the industry and related software
Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil3D, LDD and Microsoft Office
Must be fluent in the English language

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions, possibly for extended assignments.
