Position: SAFe Solution Manager (Manager of Product Managers)

Client: Global Telecom Organization

Location: Remote within the US

Duration: 12 months, open-ended

Terms: W2-only, health benefit & 401k options, free online training resources

Pay: $75-80/hr

The Solution Manager has overall content authority for the Solution Train by owning, defining, and prioritizing the Solution Backlog while partnering with other roles on the train, such as the Experience Group Owner(s), Product Manager(s) and Architect(s) to form Solution Management.

The Solution Manager is the internal voice of the end user for the Solution Train, and works with the end user to understand and communicate their needs. Additionally, he/she creates the Solution Vision, Solution Roadmap, and guide work through the Solution Kanban.

Key Responsibilities
  • Owns content for Solution Train
  • Validates and understands end user needs to ensure highest quality Solutions
  • Creates and communicates the Solution Vision and Roadmap
  • Partners with EGO's and PMs on the ARTs within the Solution to ensure Epic context, prioritization alignment and proper decomposition into the program backlog
  • Understands and supports portfolio work by collaborating with Stakeholder Owners to develop the business case for the Program Epics that affect the Solution Train ARTs
  • Prioritizes and manages the flow of work through the Solution Kanban into Solution Backlog
  • Works with Solution Architect to understand enabler scope
  • Participates in Pre- and Post-Program Increment (PI) Planning, Solution Demos, and Inspects and Adapts (I&As)
  • Schedules Program Epics for release
  • Builds a strong and effective Solution Management/Experience Group Owner team

Qualifications
  • 7 years of professional IT product/project leadership experience
  • Experience leading other leaders (example: manage Product Managers on the ART)
  • SAFe experience required; certification preferred
  • Extensive ServiceNow experience
  • Background in ITIL / incident, problem, change
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to execute with limited information and ambiguity.
  • Strong requirements elicitation, gathering, and documentation skills, at both business and functional levels.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to translate business needs into technical language and vice versa.
  • Strong communicator (ability to communicate at all levels), skilled at stakeholder management (setting and managing expectations) and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Adept at negotiating; able to resolve conflict and adapt to different approaches using a variety of tactics
  • Ability to facilitate large groups (in person or over the phone)
  • Ability to navigate a highly-matrixed organization effectively.
  • Influencing skills (sound business and technical acumen as well as skilled at achieving buy-in for delivery strategies)
  • Ability to be highly effective in a rapidly-changing business and technology environment
  • Bachelor in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
