Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Under general supervision, reporting to the Lead Senior Director of Development for the College of Engineering and Computing, the Assistant Director of Donor Relations is responsible for all aspects of supporting the development and implementation of donor relations and stewardship activities and programs for the College of Engineering and Computing. Responsible for working directly with university partners to timely address endowment account spending. The Assistant Director will play a significant role in determining the best strategies for effective cultivation and stewardship of donors including but not limited to gift agreements, travel plans, donor campus visits, alumni awards, event management-related tasks, board, and council coordination, and the donor acknowledgment process. Develop donor profiles, monitor endowments, and assists with the management of annual fundraising from inception to finish. Performs donor and prospect research for the Dean. Serves as the primary point of contact for the College of Engineering and Computing development team.



Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree and 1 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as required.



Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience in an area such as alumni development, fundraising, prospect research, or business development. Experience with financial databases and fundraising databases such as Blackbaud CRM is preferred. Working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and PeopleSoft is recommended. Familiarity with online research is desired. Knowledge of policies and procedures for the College of Engineering and Computing.



Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

A high-level individual contributor that brings about immeasurable results through successful outcomes. The ability to plan, organize and conduct detailed research, writing and production of correspondence and other informational avenues to maintain contact with our donors. Ability to proofread materials for spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and consistency. Ability to collect and assemble information in a clear, concise manner. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems. Ability to handle confidential matters with the utmost integrity. Ability to develop and monitor expenditures for ongoing and special projects. Effective computer experience including database operation, excel and word processing are required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the university. Ability to be proficient in Blackbaud. Ability to be proficient in the University’s and the Foundation’s payment systems. Very strong organizational skills, tact, diplomacy, and very strong customer focus are required. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
