Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to assist the Director in conducting institutional research with high level programming, analysis and reporting. This is accomplished by performing computer programming and data warehousing using SQL/SAS/SPSS, etc; performing research methodology and statistical analysis; conducting surveying; conducting informational presentations; providing institutional effectiveness support and providing technical documentation. Other duties include assisting with additional projects as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, Accounting, Business Management or related field.

Experience in developing accurate reports, queries, and other data outputs within Business Information (Bl), Analytics, or query tools such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Crystal Reports.
Strong Programming experience (SQL, SAS, SPSS) Familiarity with State/Federal reports (THECB/IPEDS).
Knowledge of Campus Management, Ellucian/Banner or other student information systems.
Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power Bl, Tableau.
Data analysis skills using SAS/ SPSS/R/Excel or other data analysis tools.
Database Management skills (such as SQL, Oracle, SAS, Access, Crystal report)

Perform high level computer programming and data warehousing; Extract data from all applications (such as Campus Management, Ellucian Banner SIS, LMS) and ensure high levels of accuracy and precision in data reporting and data integrity; provide analyses and compile critical data requested by the various internal and external individuals and organizations; maintain longitudinal databases with multiple variables to track student progress over time; maintain separate databases for selective admission programs to evaluate retention and graduation rates.

Perform research methodology and statistical analysis; apply sampling and survey methodology; compile data sets from various sources checking data integrity, and distributions; determine and execute appropriate data analyses using statistical software; and identify potential opportunities to utilize factor analysis and other appropriate statistical methods, interpreting and analyzing results.

Conduct surveys; use advanced-level survey methodology to design, analyze, scan, and create reports of survey results for distribution to diverse audiences; work with various individual and group clients to develop and design appropriate survey questions; write programming in specialized survey software; import data file from scanner to statistical software to analyze data; write narrative reports to provide summary of results and provide conclusions and recommendations; integrate data from various sources into appropriate output formats using a variety of software tools.

Works closely with the Grant teams, IT, and Institutional Research staff to develop data collection systems that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality. Actively participates in meetings within the department and with end-users and workgroups. Creates complex queries to blend and manipulate data from multiple sources. Receives data and report requests, evaluates requirements, builds queries, builds reports, checks data, and deploys reports. Write data report processes for developing queries and running reports.
Job Duty
Provide technical documentation and training for software suites; review and document data handling and reporting procedures for creation of guidebooks available for staff; provide documentation of work flow and time lines; produce visual schematics of information flow into and out of Institutional Research and Effectiveness Office; and provide diagrams of the information’s impact on various programs, agencies, initiatives, etc. Perform training sessions for IR staff on usage of software systems and programming languages.
