Job Description:


The Vice President and Chief Officer of Diversity, Equity, and
Inclusion (CODEI) seeks a highly-motivated individual with
demonstrated experience in actualizing strategic vision and goals
coupled with the ability to coordinate training and education
programs for students, staff, and faculty to serve in the newly
created Associate Director of DEI Training and
Education position in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion
(ODI). The Associate Director must demonstrate an overarching
commitment to advancing diversity and inclusive excellence in
higher education. This position requires agility in working with
staff, faculty, students, and external partners. This position
reports directly to the Vice President and CODEI, who serves on the
senior leadership team, and requires close collaboration with the
CODEI in advancing institutional initiatives through programmatic
initiatives and managing programs aimed at furthering diversity and
equity-related goals for the campus.


 


Major Responsibilities:  


 


Included in a range of responsibilities, the
Associate Director will serve as the office's enterprise
lead and touchpoint for DEI training and education for office and
campus wide initiatives.  Together with the ODI team, the
Associate Director will coordinate training and education
initiatives that advance diversity and inclusive excellence.
The Associate Director will help manage the re-designed Bias
Incident Response Program, specifically in overseeing the case
management process and in designing and implementing a restorative
justice mechanism. This person will organize advocate programs,
faculty and staff inner group dialogues, DEI related common themes
campaigns, anti-bias and anti-racist education, and other DEI
training sessions that help to bolster skill sets amongst staff,
faculty, and students at Clark. In addition, the Associate Director
will serve as a representative for ODI at campus spaces and
coordinate meetings amongst campus constituents in order to advance
office initiatives. Some specific responsibilities related to
training and education include liaising with campus
constituents in order to run effective Diversity Advocate
Workshops, assisting with DEI related faculty and staff recruitment
and retention, and act as a support to campus partners seeking to
provide DEI professional development and leadership opportunities.
The Associate Director is responsible for providing training and
education support for student groups as it relates to social
justice and advocacy, creating and initiating opportunities for
student led research and DEI programs, and supporting faculty and
staff requests for DEI training and education. Perform other duties
as assigned.


 


Prior experience working with and contributing to a diverse
workplace with the ability to interact effectively with a broad
range of constituents on campus


 


Requirements:


While a Master's degree is preferred, the successful
candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in higher education,
student affairs, the social sciences, or a related field and/or a
minimum of three years of work experience in diversity and
inclusion, affirmative action, or multicultural education and
programming. Candidates should possess sound strategic and
analytical skills and the ability to conceptualize, organize, and
coordinate programs. Candidates must be able to work in a
fast-paced environment, work both independently and as part of a
team, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and
display a high level of initiative and attentiveness to
detail. It is of vital importance that candidates possess and
seek to further their skills, cultural competency, and
sensitivity in interactions with diverse constituencies across
various ethnic, social, cultural, economic, and educational
backgrounds and demonstrate strongcommitment to advancing diversity
and inclusive excellence in higher education.


Technical qualifications include a strong background in
research design, data analysis, and responding effectively to data
trends. Computer skills and knowledge appropriate to carry out
duties of the position include but are not limited to: MS
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SPSS as well as the ability to manage
social media platforms.
