We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Principal Scientist supporting Research Formulations, you will be trusted to work on developing new concepts and processes at our Johns Creek, GA site. In this role, a typical day will include:
Developing new material for new contact lens and process based on in-depth understanding in both materials technology and lens production process.
Applying contact lens formulation and polymer expertise to craft and carry-out formulation experiments and characterization to achieve target lens attributes. Lead team in the execution of project plans prepared in partnership with project team leadership.
Identifying and implementing appropriate testing methodologies to evaluate potential new contact lenses, lens surfaces, package saline and lens care products
Developing an external network of research partners and collaborating to complement internal proficiencies in the above mentioned research areas. Maintaining patent and scientific literature for significant technical developments relevant to departmental standards.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs), PhD with 5+ years of experience is highly preferred
Degree of study focused within Chemistry, Chemical Engineer or Materials Science.
Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint
Strong written and verbal communication skills
An eagerness to innovate new insights and concepts.
