The Senior Director, Technology (Technical Program Management) will be responsible for defining and delivering programs with significant complexity that have broad cross-organizational impact in a production Marketing portfolio that spans platforms, operations, delivery and onboarding initiatives. These programs are in support of a robust horizontal program that scales Marketing capabilities (including Data needed for Marketing) within Card Technology.

As Senior Director, Technical Program Management, you will partner closely with product, engineering, architecture, enterprise engineering, cyber and cloud infrastructure teams, as well as line-of-business teams to oversee and drive critical programs from start to finish. A deep technical understanding of software engineering best practices, cloud infrastructure, batch and real-time data access patterns, and platforms-as-a-service operating model is required. This role requires customer focus, organizational and people leadership, effective communication and program management skills. It requires partnering with all levels of leadership and building consensus by representing, verbally and in writing, complex decisions, and tough trade-offs towards a north star Marketing vision that you will help craft.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build and lead a world-class team of agilists, program managers and technical program managers with a mission to power real-time, intelligent experiences for our customers and associates. You will develop a program management organization that embeds responsible delivery practices in all of our programs.

  • Scale the organization to support multiple fast-paced initiatives in Marketing at Capital One. Serve as an evangelist for the TPM function at Capital One, both internally and externally.

  • Manage programs related to development, deployment and operation of our world-class Marketing platforms, services and infrastructure that are always available, reliable and secure while adhering to Capital One's platform governance standards, and meeting the growing demand and feature needs of Marketing use cases across our Card Technology organization.

  • Plan and execute programs for delivering Marketing capabilities and use cases across the company, partnering closely with appropriate teams across Enterprise and lines of business. Identify data dependencies and ensure compliance with our enterprise data privacy and security standards.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with appropriate stakeholders across the company to assess software and architectural complexity, estimate data and infrastructure needs, plan capacity, develop program plans and timelines for ongoing and future platform initiatives. You will think holistically about technical initiatives and partner with product, engineering and architecture teams to think through all business requirements, capabilities needed and dependencies to be resolved.

  • Work with teams to set program milestones and communicate risks, progress and launch readiness across all stakeholders and teams frequently and transparently including retrospectives to learn from. You are able to identify potential technical risks and facilitate discussions to surface and plan mitigation strategies. You can lead technology-focused discussions with senior leadership by providing valuable insights and recommendations that guide technology-based decisions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • At least 9 years of technical program management or software engineering experience

  • At least 7 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree

  • 10+ years of technical program management or software engineering experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Marketing

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City- $258,545 and $305,025 for Sr. Director, TechnologyLocation is Colorado- $219,074 and $258,458 for Sr. Director, Technology

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
