Position Title: Director of Supply Chain

Location: Menomonee Falls, WI

Position Summary:

The Director of Supply Chain leads a team of associates to create, develop and manage strategy that will ensure accurate, timely and efficient material flow through the business. In the areas of Materials Planning, Inventory Control and Internal Logistics (receiving, shipping and internal handling), this leader owns key metrics of material transaction accuracy, material availability, stock accuracy, obsolescence risk, on-time shipping, logistics total cost and inventory turns. In the area of Logistics Engineering, this leader is responsible for developing, implementing and training for a sustainable logistics system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

Director Functions:

  • Design and execute a strategic plan that aligns with our global company vision and key performance metrics, including financial results.
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to Executive team and other organizational leaders regarding business initiatives.
  • Responsible for multiple department budgets and effective utilization of resources by providing direction to achieve maximum results.
  • Responsible for performance management (candid evaluations, constructive feedback, career development, etc.) of all subordinates and maintains accountability for entire team throughout the organization.
  • Define and direct a workforce culture that motives employees, promotes communication, collaboration and accountability with team members, cross functional departments and global colleagues.
  • Leads by example and demonstrates the company's core values of expertise, passion, agility and entrepreneurship.
  • Treats all levels of the organization with respect, honesty, and integrity while supporting diversity, inclusion, compliance, and safety of all employees.

Internal Logistics:
  • Manage internal logistics team members and ensure that procedures, processes and training systems are in place for them to be successful
  • Holding people accountable to follow the implemented processes
  • Manage the receiving, shipping and internal material handling supervisors in order to on time and sustainable deliver parts to the assembly lines

Inventory Control:
  • Develop strategy and systems for inventory management and cycle counting to ensure optimal accuracy
  • Responsible for the accuracy of raw and WIP inventory
  • Resolve stock and missing parts issues as soon as they come up
  • Apply root cause analysis for all stock and missing parts issues

Logistics Engineering:
  • Implements best practices to ensure an uninterrupted flow of material in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner using internal and external storage locations
  • Develop an internal logistics strategy including procedures/processes for the storage and movement of manufactured and purchased components
  • Participate in global benchmarking activities to create best in class processes and procedures

Materials Planning:
  • Maintain high component material availability while also meeting inventory velocity goals
  • Collaborate with purchasing to identify key suppliers to focus on lead time reduction, stock programs and other improvements
  • In partnership with Production Management, utilize and improve master scheduling processes to balance and stabilize resources in the plant while also meeting the needs of the customer
  • Maintain and improve transactional accuracy and integrity in all material-related transactions. Drive the use of root cause analysis for system and process failures
  • Improve, create and implement processes that improve departmental efficiency while maintaining system accuracy
  • Develop robust communication and tracking systems that effectively and proactively inform production and other departments of issues and changes
  • Establish and implement ERP(SAP) systems and best practices related to all aspects of material management including planning, warehousing and internal logistics
  • Implement and manage a best in class excess and obsolete inventory system that minimizes potential loss to the organization
  • Eliminate material delivery issues through use of root cause analysis

Lean & Continuous Improvement:
  • Drives lean deployment to ensure continuous improvement
  • Coaches and mentors team regarding lean concepts to develop a culture of waste elimination
  • Leads Kaizens to target inefficiencies and optimize processes
  • Develop KPIs to ensure achievement of all plant goals

Safety:
  • Provides assistance in support of the safety strategy to reduce work related injuries
  • Participates in safety meetings and performs audits to help maintain the goal of zero lost time accidents
  • Promotes a safe working environment
  • Performs all job functions in a safe manner and maintains safety awareness
  • Reports known accidents, injuries and unsafe practices or conditions to safety manager
Skills & Requirements
Qualifications (additional years of experience or education may be substituted for each other as determined by Human Resources):
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field required (Master's Degree Preferred)
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of material handling and logistics relating to internal movement of materials using lean strategies
  • Proven Project Management, Lean Management, Training and Leadership experience in a manufacturing / production environment
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and public speaking abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience with MRP software - SAP preferred
