  • The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) recognizes its Engineers are a highly valued resource and play a critical role in protecting public health and the environment.
  • For that reason, we are now providing monetary recruitment incentives to new DNREC Engineers in accordance to our Recruitment Program Policy and Procedures.
  • The program provides recruitment incentives as follows: Sign-On Bonus Incentives are based on the position classification: $2,000 Engineer I $3,000 Engineer II $4,000 Engineer III $5,000 Engineer IV Incentives are paid in two installments.

  • Summary Statement The DNREC Conservation Programs Section serves as a liaison between DNREC and the state s three Conservation Districts and it administers a number of programs related to water quality protection, drainage, and sediment and stormwater management.

  • The Sediment and Stormwater Program is responsible for permitting, compliance and enforcement of regulated land disturbing activities associated with construction in the State of Delaware.
  • This position is responsible for implementing the Program through the review and approval of sediment and stormwater management plans for state and federal projects for compliance with appropriate authorities, and providing guidance to the Program s delegated agencies; designers; other state, federal, or local entities; and public and private organizations or individuals.

  • One year experience in water resources engineering or stormwater management engineering OR possession of a Masters degree or higher in Civil Engineering.

  • Applies the principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems.
  • Plans and conducts field studies, surveys, research and development projects, inspections and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state/federal laws and regulations.
  • Tests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities.
  • Plans and coordinates engineering projects.
  • Reviews, analyzes and reports on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance.
  • Develops cost estimates for project time and materials.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff.
  • Job Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS for Engineer IIApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Civil Engineering OR official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination in Civil Engineering administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
  • At least one year experience in Civil Engineering OR possession of a Masters degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
