Summary of Work




This position will have a variety of responsibilities in supporting the wide-ranging mission of the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation, including:

  • Business analysis services, including collaborating with users to elicit, identify, define, prioritize, and document business requirements, opportunities, and/or problems for new development projects, business process redesign, current business application enhancement, or current business problem/issue resolution

  • Program and project implementation, including developing, documenting, and executing test plans to ensure that business requirements have been satisfied

  • Assist with business information system administration, such as configuring user/group role accounts & permissions in new IT systems, and maintaining system use best practices

  • Work directly with ND IT lead application system supports

  • May assist ND IT and DOCR subject matter experts to provide training for agency software packages

  • Work with vendor, stakeholders, and end business users to identify, fix, and prevent data system errors


This position serves a large state agency, consisting of varied units. The position’s daily objectives and work functions change often, providing exciting and dynamic work opportunities. The position requires a strong team-focused individual with excellent communication skills, ability to understand or learn technical concepts, with utilization of analytical/critical thinking skills every day. A self-starting attitude and a service-oriented mentality are required. Must be able to work independently and part of a team.


This position is stationed out of the DOCR Central Office in Bismarck, ND. Telework within North Dakota may be considered.



Minimum Qualifications




A bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science, computer or management information systems, project management, business administration or a field closely related to those listed and three years of work experience involving business analysis, application support, system administration, information technology training etc., or an associate’s degree with a major in computer science, computer or management information systems, project management, business administration or a field closely related to those listed and five years of work experience involving business analysis, application support, system administration, information technology training, etc.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with Crystal, Power BI and other reporting platforms

  • Experience providing great customer service to internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience representing data visually to different audiences to improve business performance

  • Experience with Change Management

  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience working with multifaceted teams, groups, and units, holding widely ranging goals; management of application support processes or business use of information technology systems

  • Software or business system implementation experience

  • Prior work experience in project management as part of a project team
