This position requires a self-directed and motivated individual whose primary responsibility will be to perform all aspects of software development. Roles and responsibilities include design, coding, code reviews, unit testing and implementation within current industry standards and best practices.

  • Work with business systems analysis team to understand business requirements.
  • Build features and applications according to business requirements and client feedback.
  • Maintain and enhance existing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug programs when code is not working as desired.
  • Perform unit tests on code and test integration with other systems.
  • Design and build databases and SQL queries.
  • Collaborate with team on tools, logic code, interfaces, and new directions.  
  • Develop technical documentation to accurately represent application code.
  • Perform related work as required.

 

2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience as an application developer in:
 C#, C , Javascript, HTML5, CSS, or related language.
 Preferred experience working in one of the following:
 .Net Core, .Net, REACT, or related framework
 Familiar with the following concepts: Object-Oriented Programming, Restful APIs, Dependency Injection, CI/CD, and Git, and basic logicSELECTION AND APPOINTMENT:  A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.  The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.
 
 Responses provided to the interview questions listed under the Supplemental Question heading of this posting will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade.  A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.  Once questions are scored, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire.  Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.  
 
 The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
 
 All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.  Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory.  The cost of screening will be covered by the County.  Additionally, new employees will have 30 calendar days, after their first day of employment, to attest to their COVID-19 vaccination status.  Instructions on how to submit this attestation will be provided once employment has begun.  County employees are not required to be fully vaccinated, but those who are not fully vaccinated must submit to weekly COVID-19 testing until they are fully vaccinated or St. Louis County geographically reaches a 70% vaccination rate and a moderate transmission level of COVID-19 as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
