YOUTH PROGRAM LEADER POSITION

JOB DESCRIPTION

WorkED is a fast growing and forward looking organization which develops Virtual & In Person Externships for school districts around the world. These Externships support the goal of helping students get work based learning and connection that will help them shape their path forward to the workforce. Now more than ever, programs such as these are vital to help students discover careers which speak to their purpose and passions so they can effectively utilize their time and family resources in the right direction.

Our programs are high energy and highly engaging and our student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We want all of our students to experience the reality of these career fields in a fun and engaging way which allows them to find their space. All programs are built in partnership with major companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and many others so students are able to network with these companies and be inspired by their team members. Our programs positively affect the upward mobility of students and allow them to support their families and future proof their career.

YOUTH PROGRAM LEADER POSITIONS

WorkED is hiring leaders to join our Madera California based team to support our Winter Intersession Career Discovery Series for Elementary School (4th - 6th Grades) and Middle School (7th - 8th Grades) for Madera Schools. This position begins on January 2nd, 2023 and ends on January 6th, 2023. Those who demonstrate their skills and professionalism will be selected for future growth opportunities after this initiative.

YOUTH PROGRAM LEADER ROLE

Youth program leaders are responsible for leading a group of Elementary or Middle School students on a Videogame Design Program at their school Monday to Friday from 7:30am - 4:30pm. This involves leading your group of students alongside High School Teaching Assistants supporting you on fun challenges designed to spark students' passions in technology, team building, life skills and being a positive support pillar.

This includes being a leader for your students, being a great team member with your other Leads and helping the WorkED team create a warm & supportive culture. Overall our mission is to plant the seed for students to engage with careers fields such as Cybersecurity, Video Game Design, Entrepreneurship, Drones & Aviation, Story Telling, Marketing and other creative areas to help evolve the future understanding of these amazing career fields which can create financial security for a person and their family. This is all an effort to help many of our students break generational poverty and accelerate their career trajectory for high wage opportunities.

POSITION DETAILS

Additionally, this role will support building the TA community vital to WorkED Externships and our community based approach.

- Program Dates: January 2nd - January 6th, 2023

- Paid Training: Intermittent virtual and in person, dates TBD

- Program Hours: 7:30am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday

- Compensation: $23 an hour Contract Position from January 2nd - January 6th, 2023 and a guaranteed opportunity to grow within our team pending on performance.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS

  • Plan, prepare, and execute our WorkED curriculum with your students walking them through the different activities and challenges in a variety of subjects.
  • Support the WorkED team and your school’s students throughout the weeks of learning.
  • Support the next generation of Madera WorkED students to build skills which will help them offset learning loss such as building their confidence and their ability to make friends.
  • Help build a supportive Madera Paid High School Internship community which supports our students and the ecosystem moving forward.
  • Support all current and future Madera school relationships from chaperones to leadership.
  • Join our industry partners, instructors and leadership in meetings before the programs and regularly to ensure the creation of a cohesive program which will have the desired impact on our students.
  • Pass a Federal and State Background Check.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a great candidate if you have:

  • Current or previous teaching assistant, program operations, youth mentorship, or other leadership in helping youth grow as people
  • An interest in helping students discover this career field and connect with them
  • Strong interpersonal and team work abilities supporting a fast paced dedicated team working to constantly innovate in a new space.
  • A passion for youth and education helping students cross the divide between education and industry.
  • Understanding of how to effectively listen to students, parents, educators to understand potential challenges they are facing and be a pillar of support.
  • Ability to lead and support our team in leading Madera Paid Interns while building a culture of support and warmth.
