Overview:

Emerald is seeking a Marketing Director to launch a new brand, in collaboration with an industry leader, focused on professional Basketball lifestyle and culture. The goal of this brand is to create the leading consumer basketball event and digital platform both in the US and internationally.


The Marketing Director is responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing a marketing strategy to tell the brand story, maximize customer value, and drive revenue growth. The Marketing Director will monitor and measure effectiveness in real-time, making strategic choices about pivots to ensure organizational goals are being met across campaigns and events. In addition, you’ll oversee marketing operations, and leverage the marketing technology stack used across Emerald to find ways to incorporate new tools and create more efficient marketing processes and user experiences. The Marketing Director must be equally comfortable developing and tactically executing that strategy. The Marketing Director will partner with the Brand VP to deliver an event that exceeds revenue expectations without losing focus on cost management and profitability.


To succeed in this position, we’re looking for a data-driven, agile marketer who is fully engaged and invested in the outcome of their work. You’ll also need to bring the ability to effectively navigate the unique challenges of launching new brands and know how to effectively engage internal and external partners to drive projects through to completion.


This position can be performed from any of our US-based offices or remotely from anywhere within the US.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the development of marketing plans, pacing and milestones for campaigns and events, identifying key audiences, breaking goals into targeted buckets, identifying appropriate marketing channels and building a communication schedule

  • Develop and maintain scalable marketing processes that maximize efficiency and optimize client-facing user experience

  • Work with the stakeholders to define the KPIs and goals of all campaigns and events throughout the year

  • Develop high-level marketing communication strategies for top-priority campaigns and manage copy and design teams on messaging and branding

  • Manage and maintain the subscriber database, keeping data clean and current while fulfilling data gaps (white-space fulfillment), identifying key segment breakdowns for campaigns and events, and overseeing the subscriber user-experience

  • Drive the initiative for subscriber growth and engagement with a multi-channel audience development plan

  • Monitor campaign, engagement & lead generation trends/performance and offer recommendations and direction on key areas of improvement and optimization

  • Monitor overall email health and deliverability, while identifying any red flags or areas of improvement so as to ensure a healthy sender reputation

  • Manage PPC budget and campaigns across Google, Twitter and LinkedIn, ensuring budgets are properly allocated and monitoring for campaign and conversion efficiency

  • Collaborate with Sales team leaders to develop new product offerings and pricing models that minimize operational costs and maintain healthy margins

  • Manage and expand roster of operational contractors and vendors associated with campaign execution

  • Manage campaign budgets and provide recommendations on where to allocate budgets effectively

  • Collaborate with edit department on audience survey campaigns, offering recommendations and direction on how to maximize survey responses

  • Overall in-house enterprise marketing automation expert, offering guidance and finding creative solutions to marketing problems utilizing available marketing technology

Qualifications:
  • Experience leading the development and execution of strategic multi-channel marketing initiatives for b2c products; publications and/or events experience is a plus

  • Experience successfully using complex marketing automation tools to execute campaigns and drive operational efficiencies (our team uses Salesforce Marketing Cloud & Pardot)

  • Experience defining and translating data into actionable insights that influence marketing strategy

  • Creative mindset with a history of conceiving new and innovative ways to reach a target audience

  • Proactive, independent work style that demonstrates the ability to effectively prioritize, multitask, and identify potential challenge areas with limited oversight

  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate successfully with multiple functional groups (sales, editorial, etc)

  • Ability to travel

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Target Compensation: $115,000-120,000 (Bonus eligible)

Please note that this range reflects a reasonable estimate of the target compensation for this position. This range may ultimately vary based on a candidate’s qualifications and may be higher where required by applicable law.
