Staples is focused on our customer and our community. As a Senior Copywriter for Staples, you are a storyteller to the core, with a deep knowledge of all things social media. You are an avid consumer of content, on top of the latest digital and industry trends and passionate about creating engaging, innovative work that aligns with our brand and connects with our key customer personas - workers, learners and small businesses.
You know it's not just about crafting the perfect headline (although you're a pro at that, too). You exhibit top-notch strategic thinking and analytical skills, have experience leading large campaigns and are passionate about developing content themes and stories that that bring those campaigns to life. You will also have deep experience in retail communications (including store experience, digital platforms, print, email, video and social) and at times will include high-profile, conceptual leadership and campaign-level ownership.
Staples US Retail is building its internal creative team of strategic thinkers, collaborators and storytellers to help us continue to share our evolution to Staples Connect and define Staples stores as the working and learning destination for local communities. This nimble, collaboration-oriented team of designers, writers, creators, producers and project managers will work shoulder-to-shoulder with marketers, merchants, strategists, product owners and external creative teams to develop compelling content and build engaging store, digital and marketing experiences for our customers. We're looking for resilient change agents who embrace a growth mindset - individuals motivated to learn and expand their capacity, passionate about the customer and who are comfortable challenging norms.
LOCATION NOTE: While the ideal candidate would live in commutable distance to Framingham, MA, remote working will be considered for exceptional candidates.

Key Deliverables
- Play a key role in campaign development for a variety of business initiatives
- Partner with marketing, designers and Creative Team leaders to identify story opportunities and the best way to bring them to life based on platform, target audience and specific project and campaign objectives
- Stay on top of the latest digital and industry trends, continuously bringing innovative ideas to the table
- Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone, while pushing creative boundaries
- Research clients, their competitors and the target audience to support creative strategy and inform the execution
- Implement SEO enhancement in all web/digital content
- Conceptualize new content for site, social and new digital platforms
- Ensure messaging brand guidelines and directives are embraced and adhered to in all executions

Essential skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in English, journalism, communications or related field
- Minimum of 3-4 years external or in-house agency copy experience, 6+ years preferred
- 8 years of professional-level writing experience preferred
- Portfolio required
- Demonstrate proficient expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
- Proficiency in AP and/or Chicago Manual of Style
- Demonstrated ability to adapt style of copy to various audiences, purposes or media
- Competency presenting creative work
- Deep knowledge of social media trends and best practices
- Enthusiasm for content/story creation a must
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
