RRC is seeking a talented GIS CAD Designer to help us build the future of both U.S. and Canada energy production from our Tualatin, or Denver, CO offices in the US, or Toronto, ON office, or Calgary, AB offices in Canada. Essential Technical Responsibilities




  • Perform multiple possible GIS/CAD design duties listed as follow:

  • Apply GIS experience working with ESRI products, AutoCAD Map3D, and/or Civil 3D to incorporate geolocation information to projects, generate shape files and KMZ files, and maintain proper drafting scales.

  • Apply AutoCAD software, and ArcGIS in a design environment to develop plan sets for utility scale wind, photovoltaic solar and utility projects including creating and editing layouts, details, sections, elevations, electrical schematics, and other detailed drawings.

  • Work with a team of engineers and designers to deliver detailed drawing packages for wind and solar projects in accordance with project schedule.

  • Provide leadership in GIS work to support clients, and continually work to advance GIS capability and incorporation to conventional drafting and design.

  • Complete detailed renewable energy collector system design packages encompassing medium voltage systems with switchgear, transformers, AC/DC inverters and power cables, AC/DC distribution systems, PV plants, battery energy storage systems, and wind turbines for both wind and solar projects.

  • Support/Lead development of standards, templates, libraries, optimizations, and processes.

  • Interface with internal and external team members including electrical engineers, electrical designers, drafters, project managers, and take ownership of the project to meet and exceed client expectations.



Qualifications




  • Minimum of in engineering, geography, computer science or related profession or GISP certification, and/or 3 years of related experience preferred




  • 3 years’ related experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, and/or AutoCAD Map3D in electrical design, wind and solar renewable energy, power generation, or power delivery (transmission and distribution systems for utilities or industrial

  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro desktop, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Navigator, Collector, Survey123, or Enterprise for ArcGIS

  • Strong CAD skills with experience utilizing layers, blocks, XREFs, coordinate systems, annotations, and dimensioning while abiding by company and industry drafting standards

  • Must be authorized for full-time work in US or Canada

  • Ability to work on multi-discipline projects

  • Excellent time management and organization skills

  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook with advanced MS Office skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and make recommendations

  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment

  • Self-motivated and work with minimal guidance

  • 3D Modeling experience a plus

  • Experience with PVcase, PVCAD, or QuickCapture a plus

  • Knowledge of renewable energy industry relating to utility scale wind and solar projects, such as MV power systems and AC/DC distribution system a plus

  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems a plus

  • Understanding of applicable industry codes and standards including the ANSI/IEEE, NESC, NEC, CSA a plus

  • Manufacturer experience of power transformer, circuit breaker, AIS/GIS switchgear, AC/DC inverter, etc. a plus
