Job Description:



SCOPE OF POSITION:


Responsible for content development for a for both Communications and Strategic Business Development focusing on the complex educational, clinical, and strategic goals set by AFMC, with high standards of relevance and accuracy. Communications content development will include articles, web content updates, and targeted media content. Strategic Business Development content will include persuasive writing and editing of proposal responses prior to submission. Support the organization’s mission, vision, and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: Honesty, Excellence Accountability, Respect and Teamwork.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Research, develop, write, and edit content for appropriate target audience and media.

  • Work with team to develop and maintain corporate web presence.

  • Be a part of the social media team to develop and post strategic updates.

  • Work with internal and external customers to develop communication strategies and gather information to meet AFMC’s strategic goals.

  • Work with staff to complete assignments and guarantee timely output of the highest quality for each project.

  • Conduct specialized research requests and handle various other special projects as needed.

  • Maintain a familiarity with AFMC initiatives and contract deliverables.

  • Understand and utilize project-tracking software to track communications projects. Maintain accurate statistical data.

  • Aptitude for technical report editing.

  • Ensure all activities address designated performance goals and the appropriate target audience and are performed within the designated time frame.

  • Maintain editorial/communication mission.

  • Communicate needs and requests to other team members as appropriate.

  • Ability to work closely across multiple areas of the organization.

  • Assure language, typography, and pagination meet editorial requirements.

  • Adhere to format, content and style guidelines, giving consideration to usability and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality.

  • Participate in final production efforts

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external clients.

  • Develop and maintain reusable assets and proposal modules.

  • Follow AFMC, state and federal protocols regarding data confidentiality/security and HIPAA compliance.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Intermediate skill level with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of the Internet and research techniques.

  • Knowledge of social media channels.

  • Type 40 wpm.

  • Exceptional command of the English language and knowledge of punctuation, grammar, and spelling.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, advertising, marketing, public relations or related field.


EXPERIENCE:

Required: Five (5) years of professional writing experience (journalism, corporate communications, technical writing, copywriter, public relations writing, etc), and research experience.


Desirable: Experience in education, health care, or low literacy, culturally appropriate writing, creative writing, speech writing and grant writing. Ad agency experience.


INTERNET REQUIREMENTS:

Reliable, high-speed wireless internet service (Wi-Fi)
