Position Overview

Siemens
Industry - Customer Services Division is searching for an entry level Factory
Automation Field Service Engineer to support a global automotive manufacturing
company in Austin, TX. Preferred candidate will be experienced with Siemens Totally
Integrated Automation, (TIA Portal).

  • Candidate will be supported and developed by
    a Siemens team, to support customer and OEMs that utilize Siemens factory automation
    equipment. Siemens systems consisting of TIA Portal, Safety PLCs, I/O &
    field devices, ProfiNet & Wireless communications, visualization HMI &
    OP, RFID, and low voltage variable speed drives.
  • Candidate will be required to live in the
    Austin, TX area. Position will be home office based and working mostly at
    customer site.

  • This
    FA Field Service Engineer will work in the Customer Service Business Unit,
    Factory Automation area of Field Service reporting to the Operations Manager
    for Factory Automation Field Service.

Responsibilities


  • Overall responsibility
    in this role is to perform Siemens product support functions to automotive
    customer and systems integrators onsite and remote.

  • Attend and complete Siemens
    annual safety training and execute all activities in a safe manner while following
    all customer site and Siemens safety guidelines and policies.

  • Be creative and apply advanced
    skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or
    practices.

  • Specific job tasks and
    functions.


    • Ensure safe job
      practices are being followed, filing Daily Safety Brief form before work
      begins each day.

    • Provide support when
      needed onsite and remotely.

    • Escalate issues to
      team members when required.

    • Perform onsite s/w and
      product firmware updates.

    • Support integration
      of Factory Automation hardware and software.

    • Develops and submits daily
      field reports covering all job activity.

    • Guides the review of task
      plans, issue logs, and work progress in Smartsheet.


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience


  • BS in Electrical Engineering
    or Computer Science is preferred.

  • 1-3 years of
    successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of proficiencies
    with TIA-portal will be considered without preferred degree.

  • 20% travel may be required.

  • Experience with Siemens
    Factory Automation, TIA-portal is required.

  • Candidate should
    display a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful
    resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems.

  • Knowledge of PLC(s), Control
    systems, theories, applications, and automation principles and concepts.
  • Where
    permitted by applicable law, Siemens may require employees to be fully

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience


  • Experience in the Industrial
    manufacturing industry is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Siemens Factory
    Automation and networking is preferred.

  • Siemens Drives experience
    is a plus

  • German and/or Spanish language
    skills is a plus.
