Our client, serving the transportation industry in 48 states, has an immediate opening for a Controller in their Omaha office. The ideal candidate has previous management experience and will help create effective and efficient processes within the accounting team. They seek someone with strong leadership skills who can cultivate and grow relationships within the organization. Responsibilities:
- Manage the company's financial status while maximizing profits and mitigating risks
- Oversee all accounting processes including A/R, A/P, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
- Analyze quarterly and annual budgets
- Build risk assessment models to evaluate investments
- Produce up-to-date financial information and prepare ad-hoc reports as needed
- Perform internal audits and assist with external audits
- Oversee the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Produce monthly financial statements
- Investigate technical accounting issues for compliance
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Guarantee quality control over financial transactions
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings
- Oversee accounting team, providing guidance and mentorship to aid in growth
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CMA preferred
- Five years of experience in a similar role or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous management experience
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP and legislation
- Demonstrated experience with GL accounts and A/P and A/R functions
- Experience with cash management and risk assessment
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
