Working with corporate management, the Enterprise Solutions Architect builds a holistic view of the organization's strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets to ensure that the business and IT are in alignment. This role links the Bank’s business mission, strategy, and processes to its IT strategy to ensure that current and future needs of the organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Functions as an internal technical consultant to the Bank’s business units on technology initiatives and projects.

  • Continually assesses the Bank’s technology in relationship to current developments, trends and/or information security issues. Analyzes, determines feasibility, recommends, plans and manages the selection/implementation of new/revised technology systems throughout the Bank in response to new or evolving business requirements, security threats, or technological advances.

  • Responsible for the development of the overall vision that underlies projected technology solutions and transforms that vision, through execution, into the implemented solution.  

  • Analyzes current systems and processes then provides appropriate recommendations for improving the efficiency and reliability of operations, production and network systems.

  • Optimizes information management approaches through an understanding of evolving business needs and technology capabilities.

  • Collaborates with the Director, Information Technology on the department’s strategic vision, goals and priorities.

  • Formulates and coordinates IT strategy through interaction with all information technology functions and affected business units.

  • Provides input related to the development, implementation and monitoring of the Bank’s overall strategic technology plan.

  • Analyzes key business drivers to derive a useful business context and develops appropriate enterprise business information, technical and solutions architecture requirements.

  • Identifies enterprise value in projects and drives consensus to balance the creation of enterprise assets vs. project needs to minimize time to production while managing risk and costs.

  • Consults with project teams to fit projects to enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise architecture to accommodate project needs.

  • Promotes the concept of shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows. Ensures that – wherever possible – projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from business and IT strategies.

  • Participates in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of information technology within the Bank.

  • Collaborates with Operational Risk Management to ensure risk associated with all technology solutions is managed according to appropriate standards, security policies and regulatory guidelines.

  • Communicates with project management to help manage the day-to-day technological interdependencies of multiple projects/teams.

  • Coordinates with internal and external technology experts to ascertain functional capacity, suitability, constraints and support lifecycles of technology systems.

  • Assists in defining strategies for legacy system integration initiatives.

  • Supports strategic planning and budgeting of IT initiatives/projects.

  • Performs compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned.

  • Regular, reliable attendance is required.


OTHER FUNCTIONS



  • Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document technical business unit requirements, processes, and procedures, including updates or modifications.

  • Participates in and conducts in-person and telephone conference meetings with internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis.

  • Maintains overall knowledge of general banking practices.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science/Engineering or similar field required.

  • Master’s degree and/or professional certification desired.

  • Progressively responsible IT experience, including demonstrated proficiency with organizational technology issues and solutions.

  • Ability to provide effective technological solutions in a dynamic environment.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering.

  • Knowledge of IT governance and operations within a banking or regulated industry context.

  • Project and program management planning and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of financial modeling as it pertains to IT investment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with and work effectively with diverse groups of people, managing conflict and negotiating for results when needed.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with various software applications.

  • Experience with or working knowledge of financial banking applications desired.

  • Ability to simultaneously work on and complete multiple technical projects with strong attention to detail.
