3D CAD DESIGNER- FINE/STERLING/VERMEIL JEWELRY
Position Overview:
The CAD Designer is a member of the Design team and is an exempt, full-time position reporting to the Design Director. Our ideal candidate will support various aspects of the design process including the creation of manufacturable models, technical artwork, and design specifications as well as implementation of design technologies.

Position Overview:
The CAD Designer is a member of the Design team and is an exempt, full-time position reporting to the Design Director. Our ideal candidate will support various aspects of the design process including the creation of manufacturable models, technical artwork, and design specifications as well as implementation of design technologies.
Responsibilities:
3D CAD Designer
- Interpret business needs and direction provided by Merchandising and Design leadership, creating concepts, sketches, and hand samples and finally 3D modeled styles to yield high quality samples with a high adoption ratio to final assortment
- Create high quality 3D prototypes and/or other hands-on modeling methods with less-detailed direction and minimal supervision
- Plan, develop, and maintain files: create 3D CAD models, 2D photorealistic renderings, technical specifications, and ultimately finished assortments
- Assist in the preparation of CAD files for submission phases
- Review vendor CAD files for technical viability and provide technical feedback to cross-functional partners
- Adjust, edit, and otherwise rework CAD models to meet aesthetic and functionality expectations
- Assist in setting up and maintaining 2D and 3D shared files and design standards, tools, and equipment based on established best practices
- Clearly communicate project timelines and status while managing priorities
- Operate and maintain jewelry making tools/equipment
- Contribute to technical and design innovations, staying current with design technology
- Explore non-traditional jewelry techniques
- Prepare models to 3D print to test for functionality and aesthetic intent
- Ensure all deliverables are of the highest quality
Design Team Member
- Champion the Kendra Scott design aesthetic, quality expectation and innovative mindset
- Maintain a high level of communication and collaboration with Supervisor and other members of the design team to ensure continual progress toward timely, accurate, and cohesive assortment completion
- Identify opportunities for improvement and create best practices within area of responsibility and role within department process
- Contribute, own, and respect other's personal aesthetic opinions to enrich team perspective
- Must be organized, able to act independently as well as take direction, and able to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain a clean, efficient and safe working environment
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Metal Arts or Jewelry degree or equivalent work experience
- 2-5 years' experience in CAD/CAM for a high-growth company
- A proven ability to execute with consistent high quality on-time delivery
- Proficient in Matrix/Rhino & Z-brush
- Must be proficient at creating solid, workable polysurface models and modifying and repairing mesh objects
- Knowledge of complex construction of precious and non-precious jewelry, stone settings as well as working mechanisms including clasps and hinges
- Familiar with Keyshot is preferred
- Familiar with Adobe Photoshop, In-Design, & Illustrator are preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiar with PLM software is a plus
- Experience with EnvisionTec printers is a plus
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- A proven ability to execute with consistent delivery and reprioritize based on evolving business needs
- Intermediate problem-solving skills with an eye for technical detail
- A strong ability to build relationships with supervisor, cross functional partners, co-workers and keep others informed
