Position Title: Applications Engineer - Power Electronics

Location: Peachtree Corners, GA

Siemens Electrical Products Business Unit has dedicated resources to develop new business solutions including business models, portfolio definition and go-to-market strategies. The first clear focus is the build-up of leading-edge power electronic technologies for circuit protection. The primary focus of this role is to provide pre-sales support for the power electronic technologies portfolio for external and internal customers, as well as 3rd level technical support for customer service, product management, business development and sales. The Applications Engineer will be the primary interface to R&D, quality, standards, and Product Safety Committee for power electronic technologies. The Applications Engineer will support the development of the technical requirement specifications to guide the research and development and technical implementation to support the delivery, installation, and maintenance of power electronics circuit protection products.

What are my responsibilities?

• Pre-sales support of the power electronic technologies for circuit protection applications
• Support the development of technical requirement specifications for both residential and commercial end customer applications
• Development of power electronics technologies application notes / white papers
• Field testing reviews and feedback
• Evaluation of new technologies and concepts to support future product / solution needs
• Intelligence collector on new technologies -- what the market is thinking and is valuable
• Challenge R&D development path and product qualification requirements to assure safety
• Challenge Product Management roadmap development and prioritization to assure alignment with market and customer needs
• Participate in and lead industry standards committees in USA and Globally
• Identification and creation of applicable application instructions and selling tools
• Development and tracking of appropriate KPI measures for power electronics technologies after release using appropriate digital tools to improve insights. Coordination of these measures across applicable departments.
• FAQ database creation and documentation management
• Assist in application of technology concepts to support critical system integration
• Consulting with customer, installers, application engineer experts and internal sales division to address critical to quality features.
• Develop Training process for internal / external employees
• Strong contribution to market introduction, field tests & trainings

What do I need to qualify for this job?

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required. Preference for specific experience in power electronics, circuit protection and power distribution. Master's degree in electrical engineer or Computer engineer a plus.
• At least 5 years experience with prior experience in development of intelligent electronic devices.
• Have a strong background in integrated circuit design, power electronics, integrated circuit layout, physical verification, variety of communication protocols and circuit verification
• Applications Engineer with ability to define product and solutions strategy/roadmap.
• Ability to collaborate with and influence manage other elements of a cross functional product development team (Product Management, R&D, QA, Field Engineers).
• Prior experience in electrical systems and their installation. Specific working understanding of both low voltage (480V ac and below) electrical and communication networks a plus.
• Prior experience in with photovoltaic and/or energy storage systems and markets strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in technical support and / or customer service
• Excellent verbal and presentation skills and capability to promote new ideas and products
• Required to have basic working understanding of Amazon Web Services and/or cloud-based service support platforms.
• Good project management skills. Certified scrum master a plus.
• Excellent presentation skills and ability to develop and deliver compelling content for internal and external audiences
• Consistent track record of innovative thinking
• Ability to travel regionally and internationally 15% - 20% of time.
• Analytical thinking combined with conceptual and organizational abilities
• Fluent in English a must. Basic working understanding of German or Spanish preferred

• The individual will interact with multiple levels of management and will be responsible for developing and presenting our solution offering to company stake holders and at industry events.

Additional qualifications include:

• Knowledge of industry data formats and concepts such as LEF/DEF, Open Access, Liberty, and Verilog
• Knowledge on data analytics tools such as Python, Knime, Tableau, MATLAB, and Minitab
• Basic knowledge in electronics laboratory equipment such as, multimeter, oscilloscope, power supplies, function generator, soldering iron, and precision hand tools.
