Job Summary:
We are currently looking for a Certified Medical Coder candidate to join our MRA team. The Certified Medical Coder is responsible for the review of medical records to assure specificity of diagnosis, procedures and documentation within Medicare Risk Adjustment guidelines.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Clarify information in the medical record with the responsible provider and address questions
Keep up-to-date of coding guidelines and maintain current ICD coding book to ensure information is correct
Periodically ensure that encounter data is entered correctly in system(s) and check to ensure the encounters have been accepted by the carrier, reporting any non accepted encounters to management after attempts to resolve have not worked
Responsible for reviewing 100% of Risk Medicare Advantage charts in designated facilities twice annually
Maintains strictest confidentiality
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certified Coder (AAPC, AHIMA, CBCS) required
Knowledge of HEDIS measures is a plus
Knowledge of medical coding procedures and practices
Knowledge of HMO and medical terminology
Strong organization, oral/written communication skills
Working Conditions:
Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, handling files, lifting up to 30 lbs., and pushing carts
Exposure to patients in working environment
