We are seeking a Lead Backend Software Engineer to support our Code Repository team! We bring together a suite of internal and external products to create a single, integrated CI/CD platform for infrastructure provisioning and code deployment. We ensure that the code deployed is of the highest quality, compliant, and free of any vulnerabilities. Using AWS cloud services, we guarantee the company a risk free, highly scalable, and resilient solution. We let the developer perform the task that they excel in, which is code and test, while we do the heavy lifting for them. This requires our associates to have a thorough knowledge of the software development life cycle, cloud engineering, and continuous delivery with high quality.
The Code Repository team is part of our great Cloud Productivity Engineering line of business, which provides foundational infrastructure services and shapes the future of Capital One with support of strategic objectives - like becoming cloud native through cloud safety and smart cost management, or by looking into what we do well and how we can commercialize it. CPE also focuses on shaping the developer experience, staying well-managed with our products and portfolios, and creating access experiences that enable associates to deliver on Capital One’s mission.
What You’ll Do:
Lead a team of developers with deep experience in providing enterprise performance testing solutions
Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies,, mentoring members of the team
Utilize programming languages/frameworks like Java, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
Container deployments including Docker and AWS ECS/Fargate

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree
5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript, Java, SQL, or Go
3+ years of experience with container images and container orchestration solutions
3+ years of DevOps engineering experience
1+ years of experience in Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Location is New York City: $190,950 - $225,278 for Lead Software EngineerLocation is San Francisco, California: $202,297 - $238,665 for Lead Software EngineerRemote roles in other areas of New York & California, and across Colorado & Washington: $161,847 - $190,943 for Lead Software EngineerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
