GDIT is seeking a Junior Category Manager to contribute to the development of innovative strategies for the indirect and direct IT hardware spend category. This role will report to the Category Manager for Hardware and Lease Administration and will work closely with stakeholders and the Managers and staff of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement to ensure strategies are fully understood, executed as designed, and adjusted as additional market knowledge is gained through sourcing activities and monitoring supplier performance. The primary role of this position is to contribute to the creation, socialization and updating of category strategies across the hardware category (to include but not limited to servers, storage, end user devices, peripherals, etc.) and communicate the strategies to those persons and groups responsible for implementing the strategy. Category strategies focus on maximizing the value obtained from each supply market balancing competing demands including state and federal regulatory requirements imposed upon GDIT by its customers, such as the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR); the market strength of GDIT; and the realities of supply markets.


This position requires understanding of supply chain management activities, aptitude to develop knowledge and understanding of the commodity category, as well as large-scale hardware OEMs such as Dell, HP, Cisco, etc.; research skills; high interest in continued learning; being well organized, proactive, and able to work without much guidance; and exceptional time management skills.

This position will be responsible for contributing to the development of innovative strategies for indirect and direct IT hardware spend category. Duties include but are not limited to:


+ Conduct detailed supply market research.


+ Participate in the collaboration with large-scale hardware OEMs such as Dell, HP, and Cisco.


+ Work closely with internal departments and customer-facing programs to understand, document, and analyze current and forecasted category demands.


+ Contribute to the development of strategies for gaining the best value from current and future supply markets.


+ Adapt strategies as appropriate based on changing market conditions, internal demand, supplier performance, and other factors.


+ Ensure Category Strategies balance the various regulatory requirements imposed upon GDIT Supply Chain by its customers, including the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR); the market strength of GDIT; and the realities in the various markets to maximize value obtained from each supplier.


+ Participate in the solving of process, supplier performance and market-disruption problems including developing solutions under tight timeframes.


**Qualifications:**


+ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree


+ Corporate commercial and FAR regulated supply chain or finance experience (experience in a Fortune 500 company and Government contractor preferred).


+ Understand and take part in market research and supply market analysis


+ Ability to work closely across all levels of GDIT to fully understand the specific needs of Supply Chain’s internal customers.


+ Ability to conduct market analyses, model internal demand patterns, price analyses, and total cost of ownership analyses.


+ Contribute to the development of specific sourcing strategies and negotiating approaches to be used by Strategic Sourcing in executing category strategies.


+ Knowledge of full lifecycle SCM-related topic areas (including strategic sourcing, contract types, bid sheet structures, proposal analyses, and contract negotiations


+ Understating of cost containment strategies.


+ Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills; comfort with communicating with all levels of the company (including C-level / Executive).


+ Demonstrated ability to work with little supervision, be proactive in problem prevention and resolution, an able to balance competing demands on one’s time.


**Desired Qualifications:**


+ Demonstrated understanding of FAR and its compliance requirements and audit implications on category strategies.


+ Demonstrated experience in developing effective negotiating strategies.


+ Demonstrated experience managing supplier relationships including performing vendor performance evaluations.
