This position works remotely requiring a telecommuting agreement and adherence to the UCSC Telecommuting/Remote Work Guidelines. The employee shall be available in a full-time capacity during assigned telecommuting work hours (specific hours to be discussed with supervisor). While telecommuting/remote working, the employee is responsible for ensuring a worksite environment suitable for accomplishing their regular job duties during scheduled hours of work and, if applicable, arranging for dependent care just as they would if they were working at the regular UCSC worksite.

JOB DUTIES



60% - Business Analysis


  • Performs highly complex analysis of business and user needs, documents requirements and translates into proper system and processes requirement specifications.

  • Applies advanced business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define highly complex systems scope and objectives based on advanced knowledge of applicable business practices, processes and systems and industry standards to meet end-user needs.

  • Prepares requirements, user test cases, and product specifications.

  • Orchestrates User Acceptance Tests, conducts and/or participates in member and end-user facing events, participate in end-user.



30% - Technical Documentation



  • Creates documentation sufficient for technical teams, internal and external, to understand the application as a whole and fix or enhance as necessary.

  • Creates documentation in custom- consumable format to ensure mutual understanding between developers and customer. Creates user stories as part of requirements gathering process.

  • Creates highly technical specifications for systems with broad impact within a large organization. Develops unit integration and acceptance testing plans and scenarios. Creates test scripts and guides. May lead cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues.

  • Creates, directs, and/or assists in the creation of technical documentation for: Application Development, Service Provider Help Desk Guides, Member Testing, Business processes, Development work, User Acceptance Test Guides, and System architecture.



10% - Process Improvement



  • Facilitates, implements, and documents business and/or development process changes. Supports the Senior Business Analyst in designing process improvements.




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions.

  • Thorough Knowledge of related areas of IT.

  • Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.

  • In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.

  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.

  • Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrates problem solving skills.

  • Broad knowledge relating to software design.

  • Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures.

  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.

  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
