Job Description Summary:


It is the academic mission of the George Washington University s School of Business ( GWSB ) to be a preeminent business school recognized for scholarly research, teaching excellence, innovative curricula, and focus on the responsible management of organizations in the global environment. In support of this mission, GWSB Graduate Admissions and Recruitment is seeking an outstanding individual to serve as Director, Recruiting and Admissions.


The Director of Recruiting and Admissions will report to the Assistant Dean, GWSB Recruitment and Admissions. S/he will be responsible for supervising and leading a team of Graduate Admissions professionals.


The Director will develop an admissions strategy and oversee execution of the strategy as it pertains to graduate business enrollment. With a passion for team-based work and clear dedication for fostering positive and collegial relationships, The Director will commit to the highest standards of professionalism, including tact, discretion and a customer service-oriented approach to the job.


Key Responsibilities Include


  • Oversee recruitment, enrollment, events and yield process as they pertain to the admissions cycle.
  • Outline new department processes and communications in an efficient and effective manner with all participating stakeholders.
  • Supervise full-time Graduate Business Recruiting and Admissions Team. Ensure that staff is trained, developed and empowered to effectively perform their jobs.
  • Run reports, analyze data and make recommendations based on the findings.
  • Provide counseling to prospective students about our full-time graduate business programs, which include all MBA and MS programs based in Washington D.C. and any satellite campuses. Interaction with prospects can be via a variety of means including e-mail, phone, virtual information sessions, walk-in, scheduled appointments and recruiting events.
  • Interact and work with Program Directors and Advisers as well as Career Services Team to ensure superior service to prospective students, applicants and enrolled students.
  • Ensure accurate, efficient processing of applications and file review by the Associate Directors, Assistant Directors, and Operations Coordinators.
  • Manage the student application processes including interviewing and file evaluation.
  • Manage relationships with the University Graduate Admissions office, International Admissions office, and Central IT office, among others.
  • Conduct periodic research with prospective and current students to keep abreast of the marketplace and to measure recruiting and marketing effectiveness.
  • Travel required: Domestic and International for GWSB related events may be up to 25%
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.


Minimum Qualifications


Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 8 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills as well as ability to handle competing demands.
  • Superior written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills.
  • Experience working with databases (Salesforce preferred) and data analysis.
  • Impeccable judgment and discretion in dealing with issues pertaining to confidentiality.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Master s degree in a related field.


Typical Hiring Range $83,252.30 - $120,682.70
