This position will perform as a paralegal for the Legal Affairs Division.  Primary responsibilities will  include but not be limited to the following:  performing various legal activities for the staff attorneys such as preparing and reviewing documents pertaining to real estate loan closings; filing documents with title companies and registers of deed; organizing and assembling project closing documents; performing legal research as required; providing back-up support for single and multifamily bond closings, including pass-through closings, as necessary; reviewing grant agreements between MSHDA and selected nonprofits; and reviewing and preparing initial draft responses to Civil Rights complaints.

Based on operational needs, remote work and alternate work schedule requests for this position may be considered.   MSHDA's main office is located at 735 E Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI, however, MSHDA has a satellite office in Detroit. Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or work hybrid must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.  Remote work will be determined by the work area manager and is not an entitlement. Employees will be provided computers to perform state work.   Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
 
 A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
 A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
 Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
  
 As a Condition of Employment: this position requires successful completion of a background investigation, drug test and a financial disclosure review.

Possession of an associate's degree in a paralegal or legal assistant program.

One year of experience equivalent to a Paralegal 8.
 
 
Paralegal E10
 
Two years of experience equivalent to a Paralegal, including one year equivalent to a Paralegal 9.

Graduation from any paralegal or legal assistant program approved by the American Bar Association may be substituted for the education requirement.
