About the roleProduct management at Shopify is a central, hands-on role. You'll work with Engineering, UX, data, and other cross-functional teams to decide what products we build to solve complex merchant problems. Product Managers are the glue that unites all aspects of a product under a single, cohesive vision. They are curious, passionate, and entrepreneurial. They have founded their own companies, launched successful products, and established a track record of getting things done at scale.
The Billing system is the primary interface for over 2M merchants to view their bills and manage their currency and payment methods to avail of Shopify products and services. This system is powered by a host of APIs that are responsible for payables/charges, credits, payouts and financial accounting & reconciliation. Moreover, this system will play an important role in driving the spend/cost management for Shopify merchants and partners in the near future.
Shopify is hiring a Product Lead to drive expansion efforts for Merchant Billing which includes the aggregation and prioritization of impactful merchant needs to accelerate success for the team. Role:

• Lead strategy, prioritization, and execution for Merchant Billing
• Collaborate closely with adjacent engineering and product teams to find areas of overlap and cooperation in order to build a cohesive product UX for all of Shopify Billing, and a cohesive product strategy across all of Shopify's financial products.
• Drive clarity and collaboration with your squad of Engineers, UX designers, peer PMs and data science specialists.
• Manage competing priorities/investments and aid staffing efforts for your adjacent teams as required
• Define success metrics for our expansion goals, and drive alignment for all Expand efforts to those measures.

QualificationsYou could be who we are searching for if you have:

• At least five (5) years of experience as a Sr. Product Manager/Product Lead
• Experience tackling problems around the FinTech space especially previous experience with Billing products
• Experience leading the definition, building, and shipping of complex technical products at scale.
• Experience creating long-term product strategy and defining success metrics for your product areas.
• Experience collaborating with and inspiring engineering, data, UX, and other teams to create compelling technical patterns, design systems, and shared features.
• Genuine user empathy and passion for solving their most complex problems with the products you ship.
• Skills to drive 'build, partner, or acquire' decisions for your product area.
• An entrepreneurial mindset - you must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, thriving in ambiguity, and getting the work done.
• Proven ability to manage through ambiguity, competing priorities and changing stakeholder needs.
• A talent for storytelling. Experience influencing key stakeholders, driving buy-in for your ideas, and telling exceptional stories around why and what product you are building.

Nice to have:

• Experience building and shipping products in the e-commerce space.
• Founder or start-up experience.
