To support our Executive Rewards consultants in the Career business, we have a team dedicated to research and data analytics related to executive rewards and governance, including gathering and analyzing publicly disclosed executive compensation data that is used to help organizations make remuneration decisions to attract and retain the right talent and deliver their best performance.

Data and Research Director - Executive Rewards

What can you expect?

The Data and Research Director - Executive Rewards will liaise between the GDD (Global Disclosure Database) Service Centre and onshore consultants globally and ensure proper use of the GDD by analysts and associates (the Global Disclosure Database is Mercer's internal database of publicly disclosed executive compensation data that covers):

  • Top Executive Remuneration
  • Board of Director Remuneration
  • Dilution and Run Rate Analysis
  • Perquisies
  • Incentive Plans
  • Stock Ownership Guidelines
  • Corporate Governance

In addition:

  • You will complete Top Executive, Board of Director, Board Leadership, Dilution and Incentive Plan Awards analyses and present research findings on executive calls
  • You will act as the main point of contact for consultants globally regarding all GDD issues and conduct periodic training for the GDD team for new data points and analyses
  • You will also lead non-GDD research in support of the practice, consultants, and clients, and manage Mercer's relationship with various outside vendors that support our research agenda

We will count on you to:

  • Ensure all methodologies are being followed and provide guidance whenever needed
  • Work with GDD developers to enhance and improve the GDD application, assisting with development initiatives from a consulting perspective
  • Develop new modules and research capabilities (eg, IPO database) and guide development team accordingly
  • Create new GDD accounts for new hires and conduct new hire training on how to use the GDD
  • Perform ad hoc analyses on a variety of topics as needed and assist with specific client research requests (COVID-related compensation actions, ESG, retention grants, etc.)
  • Manage Equilar, ISS, Insightia and S&P relationships and carry out associated tasks, including requesting new accounts for new hires
  • Work with the Products team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of raw data
  • Refresh the LTI Interpolation tools template with new data and make incremental improvements as needed; create custom versions of the tool based on client-specific cuts of data
  • Work with consultants and the Surveys group to develop questionnaire into online year-end survey and distribute participants' reports to responders
  • Complete analysis based on results and prepare client-ready decks based on findings

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years experience in Executive Rewards
  • Knowledge of compensation principles, eg, job benchmarking, salary structure design, job architecture
  • Experience analyzing rewards-related data disclosed in Proxy statements and annual reports from S&P listed companies across geographies for their top executives and boards of directors
  • Attention to detail, quality, accuracy
  • Strong self-starter with excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills

  • External executive compensation consulting experience (experience consulting with external clients on behalf of a professional services firm)
  • Knowledge of ownership transaction compensation (IPOs, spin-off, M&A)

The applicable base salary range for this role is $97,200 to $194,400.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
