Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to be based in our Tampa, FL office.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the following items:
- Design of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems as well as plumbing systems for large federal government, commercial, and institutional facilities
- Performing Construction Administration services, including review of shop drawings, RFI s and review of contractor proposed change orders
- Evaluating feasibility of alternative design approaches in conjunction with senior team members
- Performing site/field visits to ascertain existing conditions including equipment condition evaluations
- Organizing and planning projects to ensure quality controls and project criteria are met and within budget
- Assisting in preparing proposals and presenting to clients
- Assisting with mentoring of junior staff within the Mechanical Department
- Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
- Identifies discrepancies in results
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
- Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary designelements for engineering works
- Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering Program and 4+ years of experience in mechanical design of HVAC and Plumbing systems for buildings
- Experience using AutoCAD and Revit
- US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work performed
- Proficient in Building Load Calculation and Energy Modeling
- Proficient in the design of plumbing systems including sanitary, storm, and water distribution systems
- Professional Engineer (PE)
- Federal experience: NAVFAC, USACE, VAMC, DOD or USAF experience preferred
- Works well with others on a multi-discipline team
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Good time management skills, a strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Cost estimating experience a plus
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to present designs to clients
- Additional industry certifications such as LEED AP, CxA or CEM
