The Staff Accountant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining and controlling general ledger accounts, transactional processing, journal entry recording, and internal and external financial reporting with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The staff accountant will also assist in month end closing, audit, account reconciliations, variance analysis, grant reporting, treasury functions, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with accurate and timely support of financial statements in accordance with the company’s established schedule and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare adjusting journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting and General Ledger maintenance.
- Accounts Payable
- Prepare Monthly Accrual Entries for Account Receivables / Revenue along with Account Payables / Expenses
- Process Intercompany Transaction Journal Entries.
- Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts.
- Perform monthly reconciliations and support account analysis.
- Manage grant reporting and compliance
- Administer, manage, and monitor company credit cards
- Maintain and facilitate banking relationships and treasury accounts
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Audit intermediary and liaison experience
- Familiarity with allocations, segments, and entities
- Grant reporting/compliance experience
- Real estate experience with Yardi or MRI
Skill Level:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, and Zoom
- Attention to Detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 2-3 Years’ experience in Accounting or Accounts Payable
- Experience with taxation of partnerships (prefer but not required)
- Experience working at a non-profit organization (preferred but not required)
