The Medical Coding Specialist is responsible for coding patient services and submitting claims, in addition will make recommendations to improve procedures and policies. Revenue Cycle Management is important to ADVENT's success by coordinating all phases of the billing process to ensure the excellent services our providers deliver are captured, billed, and paid correctly.
How You Will Contribute:
- Responsible for ensuring codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations
- Responsible for electronic and paper filing of charges to insurance carriers daily
- Maintain detailed knowledge of EMR and electronic systems as they relate to job functions
- Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear
- Communicate with other clinical staff regarding documentation
- Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual
- Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy
What We're Looking For:
- Successful completion of a medical coding certification program, such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Familiarity with ICD-10 codes and procedures
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Able to work independently
- Attention to detail
- Display strong data entry and technology skills
- Demonstrate a strong patient focus in all their responsibilities
- Must be able to multitask and be dependable
- Excellent communication ability
- Excellent typing and 10-key speed and accuracy
- Commitment to a high level of customer service
